Notre Dame and Oklahoma! I've always had a soft spot for the Fighting Irish. Was a blast going to that stadium and seeing them play once. As far as the Tide/Sooners game, I can't bring myself to root for Saban so I'm really hoping the Sooners can pull it off.

I echo your thoughts about Saban but if Mayfield was still at Oklahoma I might have to reconsider.

Clemson is scorching the Irish defense, Lawrence is picking them apart and ND is allowing a boatload of big plays, Clemson up 23-3 at halftime.

I thought the ND might not have seen Lawrence throw the ball but he didn't act like he sacked a "live" QB.
Trevor Lawrence reminds me of Ronnie Bass from Remember the Titans. He's going to be picking apart NFL defenses in a couple years.

I've gotten to be a bit of a fan of Baker after how he has talked about Hue Jackson since his firing. Loved how he'd just stare him down while on the opposing sideline.

Notre Dame has not prospered in the BCS/Playoff era (yeah, this one isn't over yet). Can this be attributed to their independent status? Certainly, they deserved to be here. But does the competitive nature of conference play help a team going into a playoff? All the teams have had a ridiculous layoff, but the others have a conference title game to look back on. Even Clemson, who played in the one team ACC.

The Irish haven't just lost in the BSC/Playoff era, they have sucked. Even a broke clock is right twice a day, but for Notre Dame, it's always 75 minutes after 31 o'clock.
And this IS over now

Clemson demolishes Notre Dame, the Irish just werenβt up to the level of Clemson, Tigers dominated on both sides of the ball. I think it hurts ND to not have to play a conference title game.
Oklahoma vs Alabama from Miami should be fun!!!! 2 fanatastic QBβs and offenses, but Iβll take the Tide because they have a stronger defense.

Bama opens with a TD drive and goes up 7-0, a 50 yard pass on the first play jump started their offense. And the Tide defense gets a 3&Out, Bama is off to a great start.
