Not just bloody but over the top, possibly fun or just plain scary gore films?

I'm sure there are tons of gore movies being made still.
Terrifier from last year was pretty gross.

Yeah but you have to look for them.

Like politicidal said, it's just a matter of looking for them. The aforementioned Terrifier is a perfect example. Another one is the Dutch-made The Windmill which came out a couple of years ago. Then there's the nazi zombie flick Dead Snow, which was incredibly over-the-top with the gore factor (although that one was made ten years ago, but still). So yes, you just have to seek them out.

Like others here have mentioned, Terrifier is the first thing that comes to mind.
Have not seen this one, but I hear the cannibal film The Green Inferno is really gruesome.

Yea. Eli Roth pretty much only does this. Bone Tomahawk is another one by a relatively new director.

The Babysitter is pretty over the top and funny.

The Green Room is one. It’s somewhere between horror and action I guess. It’s people trapped in a room with people outside trying to kill them. Tons of gore tho.

Agree with mentions of Terrifier as a recent and gory flick.

Green Inferno was the last one I recall that was mainstream, but it wasn't very good. Anything else is off the beaten path.

Yes, there's some really good low budget filmmakers in America like Richard Griffin, Henrique Couto, Dustin Mills, Chris LaMartina, Sean Donohue, Chris Woods, Adam Ahlbrandt, James Bickert and others who make gory horror flicks that are entertaining, plus more coming up all the time now digital equipment is so accessible, affordable and transportable. They typically shoot quickly and efficiently so it helps if you don't mind the inevitable pitfalls that come with microbudgets.

I tried watching Wrong Turn 4, but it quickly turned into straight torture porn and shut it off. If you're into gore it might be worth a watch.

One of the best. What compares? Also know as Brain Dead That's a great one. When I first saw it 20 years ago I couldn't get over how extremely gory it was. The lawn mower scene was an incredible set piece. And it was one of Peter Jackson's first films.

Todd Sheets... well that depends for your tolerance of micro-budget horror. One of his latest films; ‘Dreaming Purple Neon’ was stemming with over-the-top splatter.

I’ve seen a couple of his films, and they’re so different from each other. Love his use of animation, and FX. So imaginative and vivid inspite of the budget’s limitations. ‘Skinless’ would be my favourite thus far.

I know, but I couldn't resist mentioning it, since there is no point making a film gory just for the sake of it. Brain Dead aka Dead Alive, was meant to be gory for the sake of it and it took Jackson's wry and dry wit to pull it off and this is not an easy feat.
We had some excellent horror comedies with gore in the 80's, but nothing to this extent. It’s so crazy and OTT it’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before. And that’s a good thing.

I need to check out his latest, 'Bonehill Road' (2017).
