Infinity War made an additional $13.8 million after a $641,000 Monday.
Endgame just had a $598,000 Monday so by that regard this should finish with at best $838 million.
It'd need to get around $1.950 billion overseas or another $43 million to reach Avatar and it only made $4.5 million on the weekend. So to expect it to make another 10x that amount isn't realistic.

There will be a rerelease in January I reckon(to take the no1 spot), especially if Endgame gets a best pic Oscar nom. I remember TDK got a similar rerelease. As a Cameron fanboy, I am both amazed and delighted his old Avatar has hung in there after all this time. After that 1st weekend I thought Endgame would make 4B no probs and definately 3B.

Do you think it has a chance at beating Avatars initial release record atleast? I hope it does myself, I don't know why but when TFA & IW beat Titanic's single release numbers and they never got mentioned from what I recall for doing this annoyed me, and I think if you are going to refer to the record as the all time highest grossing film you should put the caveat in there for say Endgame if it can hit that $2.56b mark, that way Disney gets the both of both worlds, Endgame being the highest grossing single release or whatever you call it movie and Avatar holding the all time record, that way you have 2 most profitable movies of all time and both also being the no.2 to each others record also.

Avatar made $2.755 billion originally didn't it?
That should be doable, it'd need another $24 million and I think I'd expect it to do half of that in just America so it could probably scrounge up the rest elsewhere.

Now at $2.742 billion. It made $12 million over the past week so a pretty good 30% drop this time.
Might be a little too late though. If it continues to have 30% drops it'd finish with $2.765 billion. Still $23 million off and Toy Story 4 is next week, the big one.

So they really are just trying to push it past Avatar then. They knew it wasn't going to do it naturally so I figured they'd try and do something to nab it.
A little desperate maybe.

I think it just to promote DVD, and won't add much unless it gets worldwide push

They're just releasing it with a post credit scene? Is that it? May as well just find it on YouTube the next day.

They'll hear "re-release with new scenes" and they'll think they have to go watch it in the theater. It's a money grab and a pathetic way to try to pass Avatar.

Avatar was re-released too with extra bonus scenes not released in theaters.

Avatar was rereleased. I don't know if this is enough to push it past Avatar, anyway. Yeah but Avatar was already the biggest movie ever by far, by like $900+ million. The re-release came out 8 months later and added 9 minutes of footage into the movie. What's happening here is Endgame is going to fall short of the #1 spot by a small amount. So while it's still in theatres, they've just slapped a post credit scene on to the end of it so they can just nudge it over Avatar. That's the only reason they're doing this, to nab the #1 spot.

I'm just glad my local theater will be adding showtimes so I can see it one more time on the big screen.

As a former user here used to say, Endgame needs an "artificial booster" to pass Avatar. It's OK the next Justice League movie will surpass Endgame

I remember summers8 saying that the general audience hates MCU. So, I would like him to explain how this film managed to cause several cinema websites to crash for several hours.
