MCU can't do right by the characters. Just look at how badly MCU fucked up Spider-Man. Turned him into an Iron Man sidekick who doesn't have any Spider-Sense and relies on AI suits given to him by Tony Stark and who doesn't give a shit about "great responsibility" and his sole motivation for being Spider-Man is to try to impress an egotistical and arrogant billionaire. Did you watch the movies on your oven? Otherwise you wouldn't say Spiderman has no Spider-Sense Is that why when Peter ditched Liz at the Homecoming Dance and put on his Spider-Man costume and ran outside, he got ambushed by a bad guy and needed Ned to save his ass? If that's Spider-Sense, then MCU fucked that up, which further proves my point that MCU can't do right by the characters and badly fucked up Marvel's flagship character Spider-Man.

Spidey is like a year into his powers. What Marvel likes to do is grow their hero powers. They don't start at 100.

Why can Marvel do right by the characters MCU can't do right by the characters. Whereas DC do so well with all of their's. How did that work out for Jimmy Olsen

This is a great little movie that deserves to be doing much better! But nooooo, because its DC! If this were an MCU movie you'd all be sucking it dick as if it were the 2nd coming. Are you blaming disinterested MCU fans for Shazam's tepid box office? Regardless of how great it might be, it looks like a kiddie flick. I have zero interest in seeing it. ... and if you're going to be addressing the intended audience of Shazam, you need to curb the "sucking dick" language. Their moms won't like it.

You're full of $#!&!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SHAZAM! was WAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better than Captain Marvel!
This movie has several great performances in the form of Zach Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer and Mark Strong. It has a great supporting cast. A scary but still clear and even sympathetic villain. A strong story about right and wrong, about being abandoned, and about finding new family, with lots of heart! And it has a lot comedy, fun action scenes, and just the right amount of SFX, not too much, not too little.
This is a great little movie that deserves to be doing much better! But nooooo, because its DC! If this were an MCU movie you'd all be sucking it dick as if it were the 2nd coming. Well, Marvel has earned its reputation, it would have made more money. DC is just getting on its course, they can't even aspire to MCU level of recognition

Did DC finally find their own dictator Kevien Feige to keep the DC product from running off the rails?

I haven't seen it's likely the people who don't like Shazam just prefer better films.

So, I just saw Incredibles 2 for the first time on Netflix. May I say that it’s not only about a million times better than Shazam but also the best superhero flick I’ve watched in a long while?

So, I just saw Incredibles 2 for the first time on Netflix. May I say that it’s not only about a million times better than Shazam but also the best superhero flick I’ve watched in a long while? Do you think it's as good as the first "The Incredibles" movie? Difficult to say. There are plot and script problems that the first one doesn’t have (for one thing, the villain is far weaker—enough to be a non-entity here), but I think this one is funnier and has better action. The action scenes, surprisingly to me, were superb. There’s a lot I like about the first one, but I’ve always felt the scenes where Bob goes to the island drag the movie down. By contrast, this movie held my attention throughout. There’s this one silent comedy sequence where the baby fights a raccoon, and it’s hilarious and kinda brilliant. One reviewer insightfully compared it to a Tex Avery cartoon. The way in which the gags build on each other, getting funnier and funnier as they go along, is wonderful. The characterizations are great: everyone’s just the same as we left them, but I felt that with the added family scenes we got to know them even better. They’re all very likeable and relatable. This movie somewhat reminded me of the last Mission: Impossible movie, which also had just amazing action but a poor plot (and obvious “twist” villain). So, hard to say. What did you think?

So, on Shazam!. Spoilers, obviously I didn’t like it—which is unfortunate, as I absolutely loved the first scene. The director, David F. Sandberg, apparently specializes in horror, which doesn’t surprise me at all: the first scene is for all intents and purposes a mini-horror movie all its own. It grabbed my interest right away and was genuinely spooky, with the empty car, the windows freezing, even the statues of the monsters in the cave. It’s one of the best superhero movie openings I’ve seen, to be honest—also, I’m sure it was partly inspired by the Dan Aykroyd/Albert Brooks opening of Twilight Zone: The Movie, one of the great movie openings irrespective of genre. I also really liked the adoptive family; the concept seems fairly clichéd, but they all make their characters immensely appealing. The little girl in particular is a real find (and has good comic timing to boot). Mary and the parents also stand out in my mind. The two major problems, for me, are Zachary Levi and the script. I absolutely hated Levi—I didn’t find him funny at all, and he doesn’t play the Batson character anything like the way the kid does. He’s whiny and obnoxious and acts like he’s all of 6. Did no one realize the disconnect between the characters? Can you imagine for an instant kid Billy acting as superhero Billy acts—in particular standing in front of City Hall and having pictures taken with him for money? It’s perfectly fine to do such a character, but it doesn’t fit with the Billy character. Did two different writers split the kid parts and the superhero parts? The story has no idea where to go. We have scene after scene of Billy/Shazam/Captain Marvel running from the bad guy, and then the bad guy finds him again, and then he runs again. Over and over. It’s played for comedy and might have been OK once, but as the movie goes on it seems more and more like an excuse because the writers couldn’t think of how to plot the thing. Mark Strong is the least interesting superhero villain since Justice League’s baddie. (He’s not as bad as the JL villain, but then again I think that villain is the worst superhero movie villain I’ve ever seen.) What should be a great sequence—where he takes his revenge on his dad and brother—is ruined by poor directing choices (we shouldn’t have already seen the monsters killing the board of directors for the scene where the guy outside hears all the commotion) and poor special effects (the monsters are boring and look unbelievably phony). Strong has an excellent scene early on where we learn his obsession, and then that plot element is sped through (the whole movie feels sped through: bad guy releases mons… Quick! Move on to wizard calls Bil… Quick! Move on to monsters attack boa…). The climax is nothing but uninspired blow-’er-up stuff. And it goes on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and the direction is weak, and the dialogue is weak. Then they all turn into superheroes! OK…? So much for all that chosen one schtick, huh? (Speaking of the wizard—Djimon Hounsou, who plays him, seems like he was in a different movie. He gives a performance so hammy that Tod Slaughter would have asked him to rein it in.) I laughed at a couple of the jokes. The one where Strong’s monologuing and Capt. Marvel can’t hear him is funny. That’s pretty much it. The cameo near the end is nice. I guess. Sorry. I didn’t like it at all. Kyle Smith, with whose review I nearly completely agree, compares Shazam! to its detriment with Spider-Man: Homecoming, a similar movie that had several flaws (mostly dealing with the Spidey character) but also had a great twist, an even better suspense sequence, and and a script that actually advanced the story rather than repeating the same gag half a dozen times. It’s getting great reviews, and it’s great that people like it. Unfortunately, I’m just not one of those people.
