I don’t remember him being discussed yet on here, but Charlie Morton is having an amazing year and should be the frontrunner for the AL Cy Young, with his win tonight he moves to 8-0 with a 2.10 ERA, he is arguably having the best year of any pitcher. With guys like Kluber out injured and Chris Sale under performing somebody like a Charlie Morton or Jake Odorizzi could pop in if they can sustain their levels of success. I'd say Odorizzi is currently having the better year with a 9-2 record and 1.92 ERA. Morton is likely at #2 though given who I have seen lately. (Sorry but I hardly pay attention to the American League unless they're on my fantasy team.) Blake Snell who won it last year is having a mediocre year so he's currently not in the running either. No real heavy hitters is what I'm trying to say.

dick riders are going to be smokin' our hogs for the whole season in 2nd.... good luck runnin' for that wild card...…… Isn't that what the Giants said in 1993? Just wait until the Braves trade for Fred McGriff.

Subway series will be going double header today due to yesterday's rainout. You would think Vargas vs Tanaka would be a no brainer but V is coming off a complete game shutout and with a surprising 3.57 ERA and it looks a lot like he has regained his control compared to earlier in the season.

Braves and Pirates currently tied at 6 in the 7th inning. With a win tonight the good guys will be in first place of the NL East.

Austin Riley does it again and ties it back up at 7 in the bottom of the 9th with a solo Homer.

And Ozzie Albies walks it off with a double. The Good Guys are in sole possession of first place in the NL East.

It came out today that the Pads will trade any everyday player but Tatis, Machado, and Hosmer. Pads came back in the ninth from an 11-5 deficit to win 16-12 in part because of 1316 feet of Hunter Renfroe home runs. They're 13 games back of the Dodgers and 2 games below .500, but, man, this is the most fun Padres team since the mid 2000s. I don't want to see it happen.

I imagine Renfroe would be appealing to somebody given his power. Plus he's still young.

Some team will smartly get him without probably having to give up too much.

Yankees to acquire Edwin Encarnacion from the Mariners, per Ken Rosenthal. Just what the Yanks need, another 1b/DH.

Marlins pitcher Yamamoto with another shutout game, he’s off to a brilliant start to his career, he should replace Urena in the rotation. The Marlins rotation is shaping up to be great, a lot of potential there.
