Being from a British publication, a very Brit-centric list, but contains many of my favourites that I doubt would be on a list outside the UK The List

Best of 2005: TelevisionBy James Poniewozik Friday, Dec. 16, 2005 -1-Battlestar Galactica (Sci Fi) Most of you probably think this entry has got to be a joke. The rest of you have actually watched the show. Adapted from a cheesy '70s Star Wars clone of the same name, Galactica (returning in January) is a ripping sci-fi allegory of the war on terror, complete with religious fundamentalists (here, genocidal robots called Cylons), sleeper cells, civil-liberties crackdowns and even a prisoner-torture scandal. The basic-cable budget sometimes shows in the production, but the writing and performances are first-class, especially Edward James Olmos as the noble but authoritarian commander in charge of saving the last remnants of humanity. Laugh if you want, but this story of enemies within is dead serious, and seriously good.

The Sopranos started in 1999 so it should not have been included.
Only shows that started in the 21st century should be included in that list.
And i of course disagree with the list.

I agree BSG would be in my Top 100 as well Though to say the list is the dumbest ever because 14 years ago one writer ranked it the best in a particular year and 5 writers didn't rank it at all is a stretch. Especially considering they have watched 15 years worth of more shows after, are rating everything for the last 20 years not just 2005, and have viewed many shows the other writer would never have seen,

The British Office is not even better than the American one, not to mention Game of Thrones. Still, four of the top five shows of all time are in their top 6 so the list is fine. I am the biggest Sopranos fan out there. I have seen the show through six times now, but it is still not Breaking Bad. Breaking Bad is a modern work of art.

The British Office is not even better than the American one I'd personally say it was. I love the US version, but the original is more closer to home for me. The list overall I like...it has many shows I love that I don't think got much of a showing outside the UK 98 The Mighty Boosh (2004-07) 97 The Shadow Line (2011) 92 Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace (2004) 74 The Inbetweeners (2008-10) 66 Inside No 9 (2014-) 61 State of Play (2003) 55 Utopia (2014) 53 Black Books (2000-04) 38 Detectorists (2014-17) 37 Brass Eye: Paedogeddon (2001) 35 This is England (2010-15) 29 Spaced (1999-2001) 26 Red Riding Trilogy (2009) 16 Nighty Night (2004-5) 13 Line of Duty (2012-) 9 Peep Show (2003-15) 4 The Thick of It (2005-12) I'd certainly place 28, 35 and 55 over the big 3 of Sopranos, Wire & Breaking Bad (and Buffy over everything)

Any "Best tv list" which contains "the great british bake-off" or any reality show (such as I'm a celebrity) should be burnt, and those who came up with it be disposed of on a desert island somewhere.
Oh, and anyone who claims that the US version of The Office is superior to the original cannot be taken seriously IMO.
Genuinely surprised that - The IT Crowd / Dexter / Studio 60 on the sunset strip / The newsroom / True detective / Ozark / Still game - didn't even make the 100

So much realty TV. Anyone who thinks reality shows belong on any list of the greatest shows ever filmed are delusional and their opinions are worthless.
I haven't heard of a lot of these shows, but I'm more of a genre fan anyway. I also don't watch a lot of shows from other countries.

Columbo The Twilight Zone Mary Tyler Moore Show Absolutely Fabulous The Golden Girls Charlie's Angels (first season only, the original trio was sublime) those are the best five shows ever, plus the one season of CA I can only really comment on The Golden Girls, which I loved. The others alluded me, or I didn’t have any opportunity to view much at all. Where would you rate Starsky and Hutch? Really my list was more or less subjective and I posted it out of a bit of frustration with these "best" lists as I think they are meaningless. I mean, i do think MTM show is excellent, but somebody might find it boring. I think that S&H is a fairly solid cop shop, with engaging plot hooks (which couldn't be said for all 70s cop shows) with the delightful accident of those young guys fitting so well together. Without DS and PMG, the show would not have had the same impact on me. They were handsome and adorable and special. But my goodness, but there were a lot of cop shows during the decade of the 1970s!

People on here saying reality shows and shows like Chips and the Golden Girls are better than Breaking Bad, The Wire, The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, etc. are seriously mentally insane.

I make it 96% of that list are TV Shows in the English Language. Pathetic. It is a list complied from an English Speaking country. Why is that pathetic? It is just the culture. Because the list is pathetic. It's not the culture at all. All TV Shows are available to watch.

Because the list is pathetic. It's not the culture at all. All TV Shows are available to watch. Non English language speaking countries might also rate these shows higher than their own countries product, even if dubbed or subtitled into their own language? The culture IS a gravitation towards many English language shows that connect with many viewers of many nationalities around the world. There should be no "culture" involved when devising a list called "The 100 greatest TV Shows this century". Else the list should be named "The 100 greatest TV Shows this century from a UK point of view". Any list which includes gogglebox and strictly come dancing (and no Dark, The Night Of, Gomorrah, Les Revanants, Too Old to die Young, Horace and Pete, Flowers, Euphoria, The Jinx, Mr Robot, Southland) should be treated with the utter contempt it deserves.
