Is it OT to talk about a spherical Earth on their boards? Well, the secretary of the society might want to make a private profile: www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=5562And browsing through some threads, one of the best comment so far : But I'd be curious to really hear the basis of their argument. I mean talking with people who have a vision of the world that goes back centuries must be quite an experience.

In one of them an airline pilot actually explains how there are flights that fly over the north and south poles and they just dismiss the guy as a liar. It's mind boggling.

The original Flat Earth Society, which still exists in the UK, doesn't believe the Earth is flat!! They're a group of scientists who get together in order to re-examine known theories in order to see if they still hold water, or if they can be viewed in a different light. I don't know about the American version, but if they do actually believe the Earth is flat I think they may have missed the point. Although; from a Gravitational POV the earth is flat(ish)!

That website is not that. These people are convinced there's a worldwide conspiracy to keep the flat Earth a secret, and everything coming from NASA is a fraud. It's incredible.

I shouldn't worry about it; they're wrong. People believe all sorts of nonsense. Believing the World is flat is not the most absurd thing people believe. Just look at Scientology or Mormonism.

Scientology and Mormonism take a certain amount of faith. As a person of faith myself I understand that my beliefs are not tangible. These people disregard the tangible.

I always thought it was supposed to be farcical, like a hoaxer's club. Do they really believe it? They sure seem to. That site doesn't sound like your regular trolling. There's a documentary on Prime aboyt that FE guy who built his own rocket to prove the Earth is flat. That's what led me down this rabbit hole.

I wouldn’t even bother spending an iota of my time or energy on them.

I always thought it was supposed to be farcical, like a hoaxer's club. Do they really believe it? I did, too. I thought that it was something like Rotary, or Toastmasters, that "do good," raise $$ for charity, and whose members enjoy membership in a large group. I assumed that they just thought it would be a fun/bizarre name. There used to be a radio disc jockey, in San Francisco, who used to joke about belonging to the Flat Earth Society. He was very bright, and very funny. I thought that would be the perfect organization to exert gravitational pull on him. If he was a member, I have to believe that he did it as a joke.

My thought is that members of the Flat Earth Society are morons.

I can believe flat Earth as long as we are also living in the matrix... otherwise it's just silly 🤔

There's a documentary on prime about him. He honestly seems like a really sweet guy. He teared up talking about his cat who died. I can't dislike him, but wow, what a nut.
