Samples:
"Someone's knocking at the door...somebody's ringing the bell. Someone's knocking at the door, somebody's ringing the bell. Do me a favor -- open the door and let them in."
"Obla di, obla da, life goes on, yeah, lalalala life goes on."
Something tells me John and George wrote the deep stuff.

Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs.
And what's wrong with that?

Well George did make one of the best Beatles song ("MY Guitar Gently Weeps) and possibly the best Beatles solo song "My Sweet Lord", though it is a ripoff of this song:

And what's wrong with that? When they were together, George was my favorite Beatle. Solo it would be John who gave us the best rock song of all time which was Imagine. And I could appreciate him more because he was not at all afraid of sharing what was on his mind and in his deep emotions unlike Paul who just gave us fluff and silly love songs. Plus isn't Paul holding back the reissue of the excellent Beatles doc. Let It Be on disc etc? He did redo Let It Be...Naked in his vision which was garbage compared to the orig. It was so bad that I had to get rid of it and I'm a big Beatles fan.

He is the only solo Beatle where I don't own any CDs or albums of. Just too pop for me. As far as best I can remember the last solo hits he had was from the album Pipes of Peace which, as you point out, was more than a couple of decades ago.

The genius of Paul McCartney is in the songwriting, including the part that actually involves, you know, music, as opposed to just the lyrics. Song lyrics are almost never as deep as actual poetry, and that's as it should be.

The only McCartney record I ever bought. 10/10.
Live version is less sensational, bit of a mess really.

Sorry, I;m not a fan of Paul's "Granny music" either. He had brilliant lyrics in him. "When the night is cloudy there is still a light that shines on me, shine until tomorrow". Doesn't get much better than that. That being said, I'll take 100,000 listens of Maxwell's Silver Hammer that one second of any ray diddy.

The Beatles had no idea about song structure or music theory. They came up with tunes and pretty much pulled them out of their ass. That's how easy it was for them.
I read a Lennon interview where he basically said that Paul was a dumbass who just had a knack for coming up with catchy tunes. Paul said in an interview that they didn't even know how you can 'own' a song. He said, "we just thought songs were in the air."

People can't give opinions about music legends? Sure they can ! It's foolhardy though, to expect everyone to agree with them and to keep silent if they do not.

Then what has whether I've written hit songs myself have to do with anything? Your first reply to me was asking what songs I have written, as if that's required to express an opinion about Paul McCartney.
You don't have to be a chicken to know what an egg is.
