Like someone said, Paul isn't going to be devastated by what's said about him here, It was that he WOULD be devastated that you didn't care for him.... IMDB2.freeforums.net/post/3474544Somewhere in the thread where you thought he should play for free and where you said you only read the first line or two of poetry !

Perhaps you and the bass player in this thread can get together and start writing some music that would show Paul McCartney and his millions of fans just exactly what quality music sounds like. Who knows, maybe 50 years from now, your collaborative efforts will still be selling out arenas worldwide. And maybe, somebody on a random internet chat board will start a thread discussing how bland your music really is. If you dream it, you can do it! WTF makes you, battouttaheck, Yojimbo, et al, think someone has to be a musical legend to criticize someone who's famous? Like someone said, Paul isn't going to be devastated by what's said about him here, so what do you care if some people don't like him? What skin is it off your ass? You're absolutely free to criticize whomever you want, I never said you couldn't. And I've stayed away from this discussion until the poster who brings up being a classical guitarist got involved. Criticize all you want, but when you bring up some kind of baloney about your own limited musical abilities as you criticize one of the most prolific musicians of the last 50 years, you come off as a doofus. I'm on the sports board a lot, this would be the equivalent of me criticizing Tom Brady's abilities as a quarterback because I once played the position in pee-wee football.

Aren't YOU free to criticize any artist you want if you don't like him or her music? You are taking it personally, which is idiotic. And I like how you and the other jackass just ignore the fact that Quincy Jones said the Beatles were bad musicians. Do you think HE was qualified to have an opinion?

Your first point makes you sound like a dim-witted child. Your 2nd point makes no sense. "That's an old-fashioned point of view, and has been overtaken by the arts". What does that even mean? Your 3rd point is fair enough, though I can say the same thing about Beethoven. Your 4th point about not writing music, then why are you bothering to take guitar lessons? Just to play other people's ideas? I play guitar, and I can play a bunch of other musicians work, but I've also come up with my own stuff. If you have even minimal talent, you should be able to do that. It's not THAT difficult. My first point was first stated by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, a famous literary critic of the era of the enlightenment. You should look him up sometime. Which is what explains my second point. I don't understand what you mean. You thought I was taking guitar lessons because I wanted to compose? Besides, I have come up with stuff too, but I wouldn't call any of it "songs" or "composition". No, I don't think that I was still better than McCartney, but I still think his music sucks. I didn't just play other people's ideas. I was a very good interpreter, but I won't get into a pissing contest here. I don't care. And I bet whatever you came up with wasn't better than Beethoven's and you are still allowed to criticize him or have an opinion about him. Critics are to musicians what ornithologists are to birds. I'm not sure if Bach ever said that to Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, but I'm sure he was thknking it.

I simply mentioned your name, that doesn't mean I wanted to tag you. And you told me on the first page what songs I had written, as if that's a requirement to have an opinion on someone.

That explains the rash. I've never really thought about it. Maybe someone should create a back up forum somewhere so those who get banned from a forum created to preserve those connections can stay in touch. You're boring yourself now? Good grief. Is there nothing else on, or are you just being too lazy to reach for the remote? You win. Only because you quit, right? I recommend King's X.

I don't have to be better at anything to criticize an artist. True statement. Look at all the movie critics we have here.

It's nice of you to encourage Heeey but … Two of her three statements were erroneous misinterpretations of what was actually posted by me. Possibly the third one was also BS … dunno … I didn't write about playing or writing.

And btw, I'm not taking anything personally, not even you calling me a jackass.

That's a good place to end it for me. I'm tired of this crap. No. Please deliver the full quote because this would actually confirm what I always thought in my idiotic amateur mind. When you listened to their CDs (as I was forced to by my guitar teacher) they sound off, sort of out of tune. Something is wrong with the guitar. As far as their compositions are concerned, well, you can take it or leave it, I guess. The only album I liked by them was St. Peppar. I don't give fuck about the rest.
