Regular season scheduled being released next week - NFL states it still expects to start on time. Lets keep our fingers crossed. I don't see it though.... I do. - It's of little to no risk to the players. - Moderate risk to coaches (I could see some coaches and staff having to wear masks or even face shields at practice and during mid week preparation, because of their age and poor health.) - The NFL makes most of their money off TV. So little to no fams in the stands won't sink them financially. (You can social distance in the stands. But getting crowds in and out of the stadium seems threatening to the elderly, and those with chronic health conditions.) How exactly is it little to no risk to players? Enlighten the masses Dr. Movieliker.

At worse, they will be sick for a week with cold or flu symptoms, and then recover.

Dallas gets Andy Dalton. Smart of them and smart of Dalton. If he accepts being a back-up, he could still make some $25-40 million more in his career.

Seriously, good move that I wasn't expecting. The Cowboys look pretty much set, at least on offense. Depending on how McCarthy does (and he's ceding play-calling duties to Kellen Moore) they should be really good.

Very few young people have needed to be hospitalized. Much less die. Unless they were already unhealthy. If any player has health concerns or preexisting conditions, they could be exempt. But people die all the time. Even before the Coronavirus. They don't have to play if they don't want to. I guess the players association could vote on it. But if they vote yes, legally they can't force any unhealthy player to play. But if you don't play, you don't get paid.

McCarthy at his best is when he has a deep WR group that can just get open on their own. His issue's were always his inability to adapt to a game plan or an opponent. He has always been the "we're going to run our shit and that's it." Once teams can figure that out, he's screwed because he is stubborn and hasn't shown the ability to change it up. Plus he had an issue with clock management and when to go for a kill instead of playing it safe. That Dallas team seems to be built for McCarthy though. I hate to say that.

This is what I think will happen. Or what I think could happen. I believe the players want to play. If the players union votes not to play because they think it's too dangerous, the NFL can't make them. But I believe they want to play. The NFL wants to play. Most of the coaches want to proceed with the season. Most of the fans want football. But they will have to individually decide if they should go to the games. And the NFL will have to decide how to handle the stadium attendance.

NFL cancels the season's international games; all games will be held in the US.
London's rabid Jaguars contingent is devastated.

The schedule release! It’s coming!
They make it sound like a massive event. Which, let’s face it, is exactly how we’ll treat it. We have no other choice.

Rumor is that the season will open with the Chiefs hosting the Panthers based on the idea that the NFL will be doing all inter-conference games in Weeks 1-4 to make it easier to potentially cancel early season games if needed, and keep balanced schedules/standings in the meantime. AFC West is playing the NFC South this year, and the Chiefs have home games against the Panthers and Falcons. If those are the options, I'd much rather see Chiefs/Falcons to open the season. That would have the potential for a shootout. Panthers, on the other hand, might be very weak this season.

"Everyone is predicting the Panthers and Falcons to be good this year. Not the Saints or Bucs."Get a grip sdm3.

As I said, for the 2020 season, the Chiefs have home games against the Falcons and Panthers from their inter-conference schedule. They will play the Saints and Bucs on the road. As defending champions, they would open the season at home. That's why I mentioned only the Panthers and Falcons. Hope this helps.

Very interesting, I just really hope they don’t have to cancel anything and that football will start on time. As a Falcons fan, I would rather not see them open up with the Chiefs, they would have very little chance at winning, the Chiefs and their fans will be pumped in their first game at home since their Super Bowl win and all. I disagree with you about the Panthers being weak - their defense has several holes and may not be very good but their offense has a lot of talent and should be strong. The NFC South looks like it might be the strongest division in the NFL.

The Panthers have a first-time head coach in a chaotic offseason where teams will not have sufficient time/means to properly install new systems. Teams with new head coaches will be at a tremendous disadvantage. Not to mention, Bridgewater (while capable last year with the Saints) is hardly an explosive talent that promises to helm a strong offense. I'm struggling to see where that talent you speak of is on offense, other than CMC and maybe DJ Moore. I think the Panthers are rebuilding under Rhule and won't be threatening anybody this year.

I think Bridgewater is definitely capable of being a good starting QB and I think the Panthers have good offensive talent - CMC at RB, Moore, Robby Anderson and Curtis Samuel at WR. I think their offense should be good. Their defense lost a lot though and will struggle IMO. You make a good point about teams with new coaches being at a disadvantage. But I think the Panthers will have an okay season.
