It's silly panic buying and hoarding.. Thankfully, we always have 70 and 90% isopropyl alcohol, and also wipes. We also keep a good supply of naproxen due to my medical condition. We also have a supply of nitrile gloves due to the nature of my husband's work, as well as a lot of hand sanitizer. My prescriptions were filled just prior to the panic, and they are 90 day supplies. Schools are closed until further notice. Movie theaters and performing venues are closed until further notice. Synagogues and Catholic Churches closed for worship. Supermarkets have supplied, but cannot keep up stocking shelves due to demand. For some reason, chicken is hard to find, but beef isn't. Soups are selling out. Cat food, too. I am working from home. Keeping to the house unless absolutely necessary. Hospitals have limited visiting patients. Some cities have instituted curfews, closed restaurants to in-venue dining, and will allow only takeout. And that's the tip of the iceberg. I am concerned. Try not to be too concerned pinky. If people didn't feel panicked about something they have a small chance of getting and dying from, no-one else would feel as panicked and it is others reactionary behavior that are causing all the hype. It is becoming like coronavirus is the only thing that will affect people in their lives and for most, it will take a backseat for more pressing physical and biological issues\maladies at hand. What it is affecting, is economic breakdown and it makes one wonder if this is what the underlying agenda behind all this scaremongering is. I came across this op-ed piece by a Geisel School Professor of Medicine Emeritus (the piece is several days old, note), that I found interesting. Not to at all minimize the risks involved with the disease, but this seemed one of the better, more succinct, and clear-headed outlines of the numbers involved, the medical reporting, and the likely risks involved: www.vnews.com/Column-Exaggerating-the-negative-in-COVID-19-reporting-33216192Not sure I necessarily agree with Quill's feelings about the lack of need for testing unless you're in an exposed or high-risk group (better safe than sorry, I guess), but he does make a persuasive case for why testing may not be a foolproof or even particularly valuable tool for dealing with the virus.

The fallacy in your belief is that it affects only old people. Please educate yourself and stop the spread of false information. Car crashes kill more young people then this virus ever will but people will still drive. is there a chance you can get the virus and die yes but you could also die a lot more likely in a car crash this is to protect old people Again, please fully educate yourself regarding this virus. Your response is superficial. Thank you.

pretty upset now that cinemas closed. my normal routine is to see 3-4 movies each week and now I am forced to face my addiction and its withdrawal effects and it aint pretty. i only have two addictions and this one was the healthier one and they take it away from me for more than a month it seems. aaargh. i am happy for the cinema workers though - that is IF they are still getting paid or at least benefits during this time. Do you have streaming services? Can you buy on demand from your Cable provider? I'm thinking of playing all my horror DVD's which will give be about four days of horror viewing. I do have Netflix and Hulu and one other yes but I have not watched films on it in like a decade, I really dislike watching films at home on a small screen etc. So I will stick to watching shows. Its not about being entertained at home its about not being able to go out for the communal experience of the big screen viewing. I will sure miss that a lot.

A lot of people are going to be suffering from cabin fever pretty soon. I've been home for three days, and I'm hating it, so trying to distract myself with whatever work-from-home (which is minimal at this point due to industry), watching stupid stuff on TV, doing 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles, reading . . . *snooze* . . . I get it if you're a huge movie buff and missing the experience. Really sucks.

TheOriginalPinky, Catman has yet to figure out how to work jigsaw puzzles with two inquisitive cats. VERY carefully!!! At first, it was a novel thing for them. We'd find pieces on the floor in the morning. The female, especially, loved playing with them. Then they got bored.

I've entered the cautious stage. I have Lyme disease so my immune system has been messed up for awhile now. I don't get sick very often but when I do it's usually memorable. You would need to be very careful, then. Stay healthy!!

I'm wondering if my psych unit isn't going to get turned into a medical unit for more beds. I'm feeling pessimistic right now.
I'm loving Castlevania on Netflix though. I never played the video game but this is one dark anime. It's matching my mood, but I dig horror shows anyway. It's been a good binge.

Are you noticing changes around where you live? Are shelves empty? Limits on purchases? People wearing masks? Are you afraid or concerned or worried about you, a family member, a loved one or a friend? Anyone around you traveled recently? Are you adjusting your lifestyle? I'm annoyed, and all of the above.

Long-term care facilities are now under lockdown with no outside visitors allowed, and workers are monitored for signs of illness before being allowed to interact with residents. Social activities are cancelled, and residents are encouraged to stay in their rooms. Residents are allowed to leave the facility for doctors' appointments, but they must be screened for signs of illness before they are allowed to re-enter the facility. This means Catman cannot visit Catwoman for the time being, though he can see her when she has an appointment to see her doctors, like she did yesterday. Got to spend a nice hour and a half together before her ride back to the facility came. Phone calls are the main way of contact, but yesterday she finally asked about setting up Skype on her tablet computer. Before she had not be all that interested. Awesome, Catman. At least you're staying optimistic. I'm having difficulty remaining positive during this pandemic. I even knew that it would probably happen after watching China go through it. This is the type of viral outbreak nothing will prepare us for even with all our technological and medical advancements.

a bit of unsolicited advice: Are you watching thew news a lot? Watch only like 10 minuts a day, once a day. you will not miss anything important trust me. We will tell you the key stuff if needed. Watch only mood elevating things these days, really. Like comedy, crazy action, whatever brings your mood up, dont let extra stress into your head. get creative. Write, draw, make videos, paint pictures, keep your brain busy with something that produces a thing that didnt exist before. It can reduce a lot of stress to create. Do breathing exercises, seriously, and stretching. Helps. but start with the cutting down on news watching. i think its really toxic these days.
