SAVE FERRIS

Leaving my general state is minimal (I am not the type of person who's outdoorsy and has to always be traveling etc as I prefer to stick to my routine). but for anything outside of the state I live, it's pretty clear cut for me...
Florida in 2011. seeing the ocean etc was a nice feeling. but I noticed after about 5 days (we were there pretty much 7 days (maybe 6)) I wanted to leave to get back to my routine etc.

SAVE FERRIS interesting question. but So Hard to choose! 1. best as in most unique occasion? My best friends wedding in Maui on a beach. they eloped from europe - just the two of them and me and a 10 day vacation in Hawaii. Was a blast and I am So Happy I got to be there for her. 2. best with someone I loved? Which is what made it all that much better. It was a country hopping trip: Dusseldorf, Budapest, Wienna, Prague, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, NYC and then car road trip from NYC to Seattle via the northern route. I wrote and illustrated a “book” from that trip and it captures a lot of happy memories. Plus the things we saw... 3. Best on my own? Argentina/Chile, Singapore, South Africa, India, Macao or Hongkong are the top contenders, with Macao probably winning, simply because I got to hike through it for very long on my own, my phone didnt work there, got lost several times, and it all ended up good, and I listened to the Mammas and Pappas the entire time I was walking around the island hoping to find the right way - and eventually did. And I remember feeling strong and healthy on that trip. Now how do I asses which one was the best? if I was to repeat one it would be either 1 or 2 but the most happy memories I have is from nr 2 so I am guessing Nr2 is the winner. Which in the end makes me say: It doesnt matter where you go, as long as have someone u love there with you, its going to be awesome.

Egypt. Rode around the pyramids, saw Tutankhamen's treasure. Visited Saladin's citadel. I loved it. I've been twice.

A former colleague (we're both retired), was the ring leader of a trip to northern Italy, for almost 3 weeks. She's not Italian ... except at heart ... but, she goes there often, and has built a circle of friends. In 2016 she emailed a huge group of people, asking about their interest in the adventure. I leapt at it, and the group turned out to be a very manageable 6 people, who were most compatible. All of us had met at least two others. Perfect.
My friend's closest friend in Italy has a successful travel agency. She put our lists of "want to sees" together, and planned all hotels, and transportation. One of the group was my friend's high school classmate, who was born in Italy, and came to the U.S. at age 12. He speaks the language, and knows the northern regions well. The travel agent made him "Boss." And, he did a great job.
The company, the activities, the Italian people ... and, of course, the food and wine ... were all the best.

heard great things about NO, it is on my list as well. I heartily recommend a visit. The best part was walking down Bourbon Street and stopping at one club after the other, each one with a mob of people grooving to a different style of music.

SAVE FERRIS I've been on a bunch of great ones. But I guess my favorite was a ski trip to Tahoe. First we met in San Francisco. Spent a few days there. Rented a car, and drove to Lake Tahoe. Three guys and three girls.

Drove across Australia from Perth to Sydney along the southern part of the country. That sounds amazing. Australia scares me a little bit though, all the tales of venomous spiders, snakes and stuff. But I do want to go...

interesting question. but So Hard to choose! You REALLY need to get out once in a while....you know....have a little fun in life!! SAVE FERRIS well, it is my biggest passion/hobby and always has been. Thats the one thing I am willing to spend money on. I dont want high tech new gadgets, diamonds, expensive shoes, luxury bags, cars or clothes, I want to travel. And I travel for work a lot. And no matter how many countries and places you visit, there is ALWAYS so much more to see and do in the world and reasons to like somewhere. I mean I sometimes have silly reasons to go somewhere or to like it there, like I went to Iceland to trace steps of Walter Mitty, I enjoyed Toledo, Ohio, simply because Klinger from Mash was from there …and I want to go to Alaska because of 30 days long night among other reasons. Sounds crazy perhaps, to blow money on so much travel or go places because you saw something in a movie, but that has been a strong urge of mine I have had since I was very little.
Now get this: about 2 years ago I found a diary / autobiography of my Great Grandfather, who was born in 1890 and during WWI served in England as a tank operator. From his autobiography that went from when he was about 9 to when he was 45 I learned that his biggest passion in life was.. you guessed it: traveling (and booze). Reading his autobiography made me feel like reading my own diary in many ways, crazy feeling. So many similarities! The sense of humor, the writing style, the risks he took, the need to travel, the lack of discipline, self-centrist behavior and all the troublemaking he caused, the several careers he had…. I have never felt connected to any ancestor of mine like I did to him. Of course I never met him. I wish I could have. I think he has fathered some kids in several countries during his brief career as a sailor and I would LOVE to find them, but so far no luck

Guys like stuff --- cars, motorcycles, planes, technology, etc. Women like to travel and have fun. (There are exceptions of course.) This stems back from the traditional roles of men being the providers, and women wanting to making life better.

My car is 15 years old, my tablet is 10 years old, my phone is 5 years old. Would I like newer cars and newer phones etc? Yes. But the money that would go to a new car or a gadget I will rather put toward travels. Exploring other places and learning about other cultures is at the top of my spending pyramid. And I think both genders do these things to "have fun". You may have more fun on a plane/motorcycle, some women have more fun traveling other find joy in buying expensive shoes or cosmetics, but essentially both genders do it to "have fun".

I will rather blow it on an air ticket to Alaska
