It is the same, no doubt. I've never heard this band , The Church before. They might be worth a listen.

They certainly sound similar.

This happens more frequently than you think. I know Gamma Ray has taken several riffs from Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. I remember Helloween ripped themselves off with one song on their last album. There's also stuff like this:
(go to 1:00 on the last one; it transfers the guitar riff of the previous to the vocals/bass)

A couple of songs that had the same riff:
Eighties by Killing Joke Come As You Are by Nirvana
I can't remember the premise as to whether it was coincidental or not. I'm thinking it was.
Eighties was the opening theme song to the short lived show "That 80s Show".

Tom Petty - Mary Jane’s Last Dance Red Hot Chili Peppers - Dani Kalifornia I have a great mix of those but it can't be posted anywhere. Alternating verses. Mary Dani Janey, CA (dr.deutch.mix) - Tom Pepper and the Red Pettys Petty was cool about the blatant ripoff.

Dream Evil - "The Book of Heavy Metal" (2004)
Mystic Prophecy - "Metal Division" (2020)
As it turns out, I bought the latter album, but not the former.
