That was a brilliant show in my opinion. One of my all time favorite shows What's scary is that we're living in that society now where we're being monitored in every which way. It also reminds me of the precogs in that Tom Cruise movie....(forgot the name) I'm enjoying what I've seen of the show so far.

I started watching the series and liked it but it went off track for me and I abandoned it after giving it plenty of time.

I enjoyed the first 2 seasons, but stopped watching after season 3. When they had to go underground the show lost its appeal to me.

That whole other machine story line that went on forever really dragged the show down.

I liked the actors and wish that they had been in a more interesting show.

That whole other machine story line that went on forever really dragged the show down. I did enjoy all the seasons of the show, but yes i do agree that the whole other machine story line did dragged the show down a bit. It should have been a one season story line.

So someone else has another machine that does the same thing?

So someone else has another machine that does the same thing? Yes That sucks because it's what makes this show interesting as it is. They've already established that the machine is one of a kind, so to suddenly have a new one, I can only think of the son of Finch's former partner, but that seems unlikely. Where does this new mystery machine come from? It's like creating a mystery super villain, and that seems unnecessary. Bah.

Does this have to do with the CIA agents who have been trying to kill him?

I'm just curious as to what direction the show was going. I just saw the episode where Finch got hacked and they had to destroy their phones and d/c the computers (Finch thought he hacked in, but it was a honey trap). Is this the beginning of the other machine, or does that come in another season? It's okay getting ahead of myself. I'm watching a TV show that's been out for years. Out of curiosity, is that when it starts to go downhill, when they start turning this into two teams against each other? I really like the chemistry, and the lead actor looks really familiar somehow. It's interesting to see the two cops. Carter is growing on me, and I'm glad she sided with them.

The beginning of the other machine doesn't happen until Season 3, and that plot line continues through Season 5. Season 5 is the final season, and has 13 episodes instead of the 22 episodes of earlier seasons. I don't think the show goes downhill at all, and I own the entire series on DVD. But show evolves beyond the standalone "number of the week" format to a serialized story of Team Machine (good) vs. Team Samaritan (evil). Even so, it never went fully serialized, and there were "number of the week" stories even in the shorter final season. But if you're a TV viewer who expects the same formula every single episode, you might think the show goes downhill when they change up the format. If you're a TV viewer who expects the good guys to win every time, you might think the show goes downhill when, *spoiler alert*, beloved characters die (but I won't say who). The only thing I didn't much care for in the later seasons is "Shoot" (I won't elaborate on what that is). With the fate of the world at stake, I thought too much time was devoted to "Shoot". However, since I was regular poster on the IMDb message board back in the day, that may simply be a reaction to all the on-line "Shoot" discussion, rather than the actual "Shoot" content in the episodes themselves.

However, since I was regular poster on the IMDb message board back in the day, that may simply be a reaction to all the on-line "Shoot" discussion, rather than the actual "Shoot" content in the episodes themselves. I'm enjoying the formula, and it's not predictable because it *does* pull various surprises out at the last minute. In that regard I don't find it "formulaic" or predictable. I think they shake it up nicely. I think the only problem I'd have is losing either of the two leads. I felt the same way on NCIS when Abby and Ziva left. My heart wasn't in it anymore and I really didn't maintain any connection to the show. So it'll depend on which character and how it furthers the development of the whole show. So far I only have access to three seasons, so I'll keep posting my updates as I get through the episodes. It's an engaging program.
