I'm going through with this - last shopped August 1. Problem is, though I have a lot of food, I didn't plan for this, so I only have a few frozen fruits and vegetables, 1 dying sweet potato, and about 2 servings of oatmeal. Pizza crusts, but I'm out of mozzarella, etc. End of the month should be carrots, pasta and sauce, rice and beans, frozen meats, canned fish.

I'm often overloaded, and it's worse right now. Cans and jars are expiring or have long past their dates, frozen foods getting to their best by dates. I always overbuy Costco stuff. And early in Covid, I definitely stocked up. When my refrigerator was dying in January, I had 3 and 4 year old meats and fish and other things in the freezer, a few of which I tried to save and eat. Some was fine, some not good. For a single person, I keep too much on hand. When I eat out, it's often at the expense of foods I will have to toss.

I have to go every 2 weeks nj I need milk for my daughter with cerebral palsy. only 3 gallons fit at one time. I remember how difficult it was to shop/cook for just me

Too hot to do anything outdoors. But, thanks. Just had the last of my Ben & Jerry's pint. Got 7 or 8 servings out of it. How old is your daughter?

I'll take a nap (or at least relax) this afternoon. I'm tired!

Less than a week to go. Still have some fresh salad fixings and fruits. My last avocado from my July 30 purchase. I'll have a half tomorrow and a half Thursday, so it will have made it 4 weeks. And I'm now down 22 pounds from early March. From 205 to 183.

Just had the last of my Ben & Jerry's pint. Got 7 or 8 servings out of it. Heheh - I do the same with my ice cream, although it's usually H-D. A few tips to increase shelf life: 1) Keep ice cream in the coldest part of your freezer (not the door) - and keep your freezer at 0 deg. F. or below. 2) Store it upside-down to minimize icing (from the defrost cycle). 3) Put a fold/lock sandwich bag over the top, press it down to remove air, and seal it with a rubber band; then put the lid on.

Finished my last avocado yesterday, 4 weeks from purchase date. Still have some salad fixings. I do have quite a few things to buy then. I could probably go longer as I'm still not getting to a lot of foods.

Depending on the ingredients, soups (and stews, chili, sauces) freeze well, you can pack them full of veggie/nutritional goodness, and they are easy to reheat. I generally make them in large batches and freeze pint-sized servings in vacuum-seal bags. Then later on I can pull a "brick" from the freezer, drop it in hot water to reheat for a half-hour or so, and Viola!

My list is usually 20 some food items and 10 nonfood (like tylenol). And I go every 2 weeks! I think I still have 2 fuji's!

I usually go every few days, as I need different things from different stores. But they are all within a 5 or 6 mile round-trip, so I may hit them all at once.
