We had one. They are great dogs. SO great!! And I meant to write/wanted to add that all of mine have been found via shelters/rescue; they either came to me with cropped ears, or didn't. When I'd walk cropped Sergio (my avatar) with "natural" Ava, perfect strangers would circle faaaaar around poor Serge, nervously apologizing to me for their unease re "his" breed, then grab Ava's face and pet, ear-rub, and/or kiss her for several minutes - these were adults!! - exclaiming about how sweet (luckily for them) and pretty she was, and, finally, asking her breed. (Duh!) I loved the looks of horror and backward scuttling to "safety" that resulted when I told them she was a purebred Doberman - and the dog they'd avoided was half Dobe and half Lab. My point - and I do have one - is that Dobes with cropped ears are, in my experience, *considerably* more intimidating in appearance. As a woman currently living alone, I prefer this look due to its being a deterrent, but can't see putting a puppy through the cropping process - meaning no offense to those who do - so I instead rather hypocritically look for it in shelter/rescue Dobes. I love Dobermans too.

I love all dogs but I am somewhat partial towards large breeds likes the Saint Bernard, Great Pyrenees, Newfs and Mastiffs.

I grew up with a German Shepard mix, but am not a dog person. I currently have a toy poodle though, and he’s a trip. Still, the only dog I’ll ever have. I just prefer the quiet aloofness of cats better.
What a tub of rancid bullshit that half the people on this thread aren’t here anymore.

I love ALL dogs, but for sheer beauty, intelligence and complete lovability nothing can beat the Golden Retriever.

We have a German Shepard now that my little peke/yorkie passed. He is a smart wonderful dog. I'm still here however
