From Susan Sarandon who plays the villain:
"My God, to be in a comic book and to be the bad guy, that was great. And I had great outfits, and I wanted to be a little bit more androgynous, but that scared them. So I'm a little bit more gentle, but that was really a fun thing too. That young director, Angel [Manuel Soto], was fabulous. And I mean, we're gushing a lot. It sounds phony, but really, I love the enormity of it. His whole family is Mexican and they're all Mexican actors, and my henchman is Native American. So it was pretty unusual. It's the first superhero movie that stars a Latino, so that's pretty special, and he's great. The kid's great."

I think they should make it clear whether this is part of the new DCU or not. Trying to have it both ways is risky and probably part of why Shazam 2 flopped.

Besides, a BB cult following on streaming/home release can still exist, not to mention potential sequel/follow-up. I don't know a single human being who knows what Blue Beetle is or who, let alone demand to finally get a cinematic rendering.

I am surprised this got released (especially a theatrical release) instead of Batgirl. Batgirl probably was garbage, but at least people have heard of her, and obviously has the Batfam association.

87% with 44 reviews on RT. Shame this thing will definitely flop. Xolo (💕) and Susan were good Susan as in Sarandon? I generally like her a lot (even got to meet her once), but her performance seemed hilariously phoned in. In a year full of goofy young superhero movies at DC, this one was probably the most mediocre. At least Flash and Shazam 2 had characters I kinda liked or at least am familiar with. This was my first big introduction to Blue Beetle outside of any crossover event (or Watchmen, I guess), and it was a total wet fart. I like Xolo in Cobra Kai but his character here is paper thin. All of the personality was reserved for his family, but they're mostly annoying (I was praying that sister would catch a stray bullet in the forehead, and the granny being an ex revolutionary screaming "death to imperialists" while mowing down people with a machine gun felt like a gag from Spy Kids 8). Definitely, definitely should have just gone to streaming.

I saw this last week, it was actually very fun and enjoyable. I mean, yes kind of generic at some points but the good outweighs the bad.
...And frankly, I thought it was a good adaptation of "Bio Booster Armor Guyver" as well
