^THIS!^. Today's music IS the WORST. Music in the 80s was GREAT. 60s and 70s too. Music started going downhill in the 90s and has since then been continuing to go downhill.

I find it hard to support the notion that the 80s was the worst. Yes there was some dire music as there are in all decades but (in the UK) you had bands like The Jam, The Specials, Kate Bush, Echo & The Bunnymen, Killing Joke, Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Cure, Depeche Mode, The Smiths, New Order etc regularly on mainstream radio and TV and in some cases topping the charts. "Pop" acts didn't consist of just some young singer singing over a burping electronic backing track, but, certainly in he early half, consisted of bands that could play instruments, write their own songs and started on the live circuit - Adam & The Ants, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet etc.
Plus there were still all the tribes...you had a Goth scene, Psychobilly, Rockabilly revival, MOD revival, Rude Boy, Soul Boy, Metal, Grebo etc etc
It was the golden age of hip hop. And indie was at it's peak (and meant more than just a guitar & tight trousers). Nah, the 80s were damn good.

I don't believe in an inherently worst decade for music and, even if I did, it wouldn't be the 80s.

Can we all agree the 80s was the worst time for music? I'm actually just realizing now how bad the 80's was. No. No. NO! The 80s was one of the BEST times for music. I'm a fan of traditional heavy metal and that's when the genre hit its commercial peak.

The 80s was the worst decade for fashion, but definitely not for music. In fact, it was and is my favorite.

The 80s was the worst decade for fashion, but definitely not for music. In fact, it was and is my favorite. To be fair, people may very well say that about the fashion in this time period 30 years from now. I won't even bother going on in a rant about that. lol

I'm actually just realizing now how bad the 80's was. Worse than any time before the means to record or broadcast music? Doubtful.
