$447,578,428 so far. I believe the second film ended with over $700 million.

I wonder why this film is not performing that well? Is it because the general audience doesn't have a big interest in Ant-Man?

I wonder why this film is not performing that well? Is it because the general audience doesn't have a big interest in Ant-Man? I talked about this in a thread on the FG board, where people who hate Marvel movies were using Quantumania as proof that somehow everyone hates Marvel movies now. Didn't get any replies. Almost as if my argument made too much fucking sense. "I hate Marvel movies. Any time a Marvel movie succeeds, I'll blame brainwashed sheeple, the Disney PR machine, etc. Anytime a Marvel movie, any Marvel movie performs below the BO expectations of an Avengers movie, I'll say people are sick of Marvel movies, 'Get woke, go broke,' the brainwashing is wearing off, etc. Then when the next one crushes at the BO, I'll revert to argument A. Rinse, repeat."

I'm just surprised because this film kicks off the next big villain of thr MCU.
You would think that would have generated enough hype to put it in the 700-800 million range by now.

Which previous Marvel film do you think made its money on the villain? Infinity War easily! Can't tell if you're serious or not. People didn't watch Infinity War for Thanos, they watched it for literally every other MCU character coming together under one roof. That film featured the Avengers, Spider-Man, the Guardians, Black Panther, Doc Strange, you name it. IW fulfills the promise of the MCU before the portal scene in Endgame; and better if you ask me, because we get to spend more time with everyone, and everyone has something to do. And IW didn't kick off Thanos as the big bad, so not sure how IW compares to Quantumania in that regard. Whenever Kang comes into conflict with the rest of the MCU proper, that will be a better comparison to IW. People just don't care about Ant-Man movies the way they do other characters, they never have. It's right there in the numbers.

But there was also hyped for the Thanos build up. And that's why it was stupid to use Ant-Man has the starting point for the Kang story. Should have been Doctor Strange at least, especially since he's been fucking around with the multiverse.

A villain needs a worthy hero and a hero needs a worthy villain. Kang didn't have what others would call a worthy enough hero or heroes to face off against thus watching them both duel on the big screen may not have been a must. Plus the non expressive Kang actor that hardly anyone knows yes he's famous now including for Creed too but did you really know him pre Antman? Other than one episode in the Loki show? And does looking at Jonathan Majors looking vacant on posters hype you up to want watch him for two hours?

A lot of folks and their children are using the Disney+ now, so far more people will see it soon, but this will not boost the revenue much. The box office does equal the actual final audience, nor necessarily the quality of the movie.

It's a comment about why a film didn't do outstanding numbers. As for your what can only be assumed to be racial outrage over the non expressive remark... Wesley Snipes is one of the best villain actors in Hollywood... Jonathan Majors ain't no Wesley Snipes.
