Yeah… I’d be surprised if it lasts another decade honestly. And wouldn’t they have to reboot at some point? Technically it would no longer be the MCU after that.

The comics have been around for as long as they have because they’ve been able to keep the same characters this whole time. You don’t really have that same luxury in live action, unless you keep recasting the characters.

Until they run out of jokes. That happened ten years ago! Seriously, they literally recycle the same gags over and over again.

Not without a reboot. In all honesty, I can see it going on for another decade, and I really want them to do Doctor Doom and Galactus after the Multiverse Saga.

Well they would have to create new characters to bring to the big screen to last another 80+ years. That, and it's possible that the MCU might die out if a superhero fatigue wave kicks in for real somewhere in the future and they would just reboot it.

It does have future youth gens able to embrace newer films & arcs as 'their own', yet the MCU's Infinity Saga was built on decades & decades of characters on the page & in the hearts & minds of fans... the MCU in 2040 might not even be recognizable, let alone which mediums in embraces - will 'TV' shows even exist then?? Theatres?

Theatres? In the future the MCU movies will be administered intravenously. The tv shows will be suppositories.

Imagine if the MCU did go on for 80+ years. Imagine all the movies and tv shows that would be available to watch.
God i couldn't imagine how many hours of content that would be.

They might purchase the rights to the likenesses of several actors so they can continue working posthumously. Someone like Chris Hemsworth might not be interested, given how embarrassed he is of Thor 4. But I reckon the actors’ kids might convince them.
Also, bring on the AI writers. They couldn’t be worse than the ones we have now.

The MCU will not last as long as the James Bond franchise.

In his actual quote, Feige clearly says he wants Marvel Studios to last another 80 years, not the MCU specifically.
The MCU is itself not going to be in continuity for 80 years, unless new actors as new characters take up the mantle of existing heroes, such as in Captain America: New World Order and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, or the same actors play the same characters into their senior years, which, even if they make it into their 70s and 80s -- see Michael Keaton, Patrick Stewart, and Harrison Ford -- will still take far less than another 80 years and will still require a new generation of actors and characters.
Most likely, the MCU will reset or reboot every few decades.
Either way, Marvel Studios can easily last another 80 years.
It is one of the top Hollywood studios and it won't ever go defunct as its rich library of characters will continue to thrive in whatever format entertainment constitutes.

The MCU will not last as long as the James Bond franchise. Maybe, maybe not. But it already has more films.

Thanks for confirming that most people on this thread are dyslexic.

What's the oldest TV or movie franchise? Bond? Still going. Star Trek isn't as old, but is going even stronger than Bond. Star Wars is even younger than both and the most popular of the three franchises. Planet of the Apes, Godzilla, and Kong are less popular, but still around. It might be different, but there's definitely a chance it still exists in some form.

The longest movie franchise (if it counts as a franchise) is the Mummy 1932-2017 (85 years and 19 movies)
