The Mind’s Eye (2015)Indie director Joe Begos’ follow up to his 2013 debut feature Almost Human is another throwback to sci-fi-horror. While Almost Human had shades of ‘Xtro’, you easily see The Mind’s Eye is influenced by the body horror of Cronenberg.. namely ‘Scanners’. I found it be an improvement over his sophomore effort. Assured direction showed in some stylised set-pieces. The only thing I found spotty was some of the acting.

Q The Winged Serpent
I don't know what the hell I just watched, but I enjoyed it nevertheless. Classic Larry Cohen nonsense with Michael Moriarty in prime form. The clay/stop-motion serpent stuff hit the spot, too.

The Shallows
A relatively tense survival horror that unfortunately treads water with cliches. Still, there are worse ways to kill 80 minutes than by watching Blake Lively flap around in her bikini bottom.

Just like the first " Poltergeist 1982 film "
this fine sequel is just as effectively scary and most memorable after all these years too . A huge plus with this sequel film
it delves more into the back story of who exactly was haunting the Freeling family
and why it was happening in the first place . Thanks so much Deb for this
awesome film sequel reminder here too .
Sorry for taking so long to reply to this mszanadu . I have been busy lately and I was planning on replying to you when I was on here the other day but my cousin was in a car accident recently and we have spent the last three afternoons seeing her in hospital and thankfully she wasn't seriously injured and is being released from hospital today. I love the 'Poltergeist' sequel too and I think it is just as good as the first movie and possibly even better thanks to Julian Beck as Kane who was very creepy and unforgettable in his performance. I enjoyed the third movie too and I remember reading there was supposed to be a 4, 5 and 6 that would have followed Carol Anne when she got older and four would have had her as a teenager, five would have had her in her 20s and the final movie would have had her with her own family but the actress sadly passed away when she was still very young and the sequels were cancelled. I wouldn't mind seeing them made now with a new actress since the reboot flopped and I think a lot of fans would like to see a grownup Carol Anne.

Hello there again Deb it's so good to chat with you here as always !!
So sorry about your cousin but very relieved she wasn't seriously hurt
car accidents always seem so frightfully unpredictable ( also quite unreal in that moment )
and sometimes after it happens can feel like it was a waking nightmare as well .
I actually didn't know there was to be other " Poltergeist Sequels " after part 3
these other sequels would have been definitely worth creating .
IMPO - It certainly wouldn't be the same now to be able
to easily replace this fine young actress
she had such a unique style all her own that just couldn't be matched ( even actor Julian Beck was also a tough act to follow ) .
Thanks so much Deb for your reply .

Apostle (2018) It seems like a jambalaya of The Wicker Man, The Witch and a little dash of Shyamalan's The Village. But it has it's own story to tell, one I won't spoil here. There are some shocking moments of gore for those horror fans who appreciate some inventive bloody scenes. There's also a great mystery behind it all, slightly different than what we're used to, or what I expected. The guy with what looks like a beehive on his head is a great horror creation. Michael Sheen and Dan Stevens are great in their roles. This was a pleasant surprise. Loved that final shot!

It is nice to talk to you on here too and thank you for the kind words and you would be happy to know that my cousin is recovering and she is taking things one step at a time, so to speak and won't be returning to work for a while but her husband and her came over here for dinner the other night and she isn't going out to many places apart from the chiropractor's which she has to see regularly from now on until her back and shoulder are better but she came here for dinner and we had Sticky Date Pudding for dessert which is one of her favourites. What happened to my cousin was a big shock to all of us and we are just happy she is alright 'cause she could no longer be with us now and I have lost people who were close to me in a car accident. They are always unpredictable and sadly her car has to be replaced but her being okay is the main thing. I didn't know there were meant to be other sequels for the 'Poltergeist' either until I read about it in a magazine a decade ago and the studio planned on continuing the franchise with Heather O'Rourke up until she was an adult and I am interested in what those movies would have been like and think they could have ended up being pretty good.
Some people didn't like the third movie but I thought it was good and we always watch the 'Poltergeist' movies in a row and 2 is my favourite and I agree that it would be difficult to replace Heather but if they choose to continue the franchise like I read they might be I am not sure what direction they could go in unless they went with something completely different this time. By the way, another franchise I have been meaning to ask you if you like is 'Phantasm' and have you watched any of the 'Phantasm' movies mszanadu 'cause looking at the type of Horror movies you have said you liked I think you might enjoy and much like 'Poltergeist' I liked 2 the most and was disappointed when they killed off Liz 'cause I think the franchise would have been better if they had kept it going with Mike, Liz and Reggie.
