Every year I tend to have a list of films I want to watch. This year is no different. Usually they are dvds/blurays I haven’t got around to watching. Thinking I would clear through a backlog. However I always tend to move away from those titles to pick random films I never thought of watching. This year I have slowly been building up a bunch of unseen horror DVDs/Blu-rays, and will try to divide those along with more random Youtube finds, to fill in the gaps, here and there. But since many of the usual good to go Youtube channels/profiles, with tons of films included, are no longer available. I guess one must try to find other sources of interest. Really looking forward to check up on the recent purchased Vincent Price 6 Gothic Tales Blu-ray boxset from Arrow Video, and might also try to focus on Vincent Price and a few other iconic horror stars this upcoming month. Anyway, thanks once again for starting up this always fun and interesting October Horror Thread. While I am not into 110 percent horror watch mode yet, I will continue on trying to dig a bit more into unseen films up on Youtube, and making a few watchlists in order to prepare for things to come.

As usual, I love that this is a thing, but this year in particular I really don't think I'll have any time at all.
It doesn't really necessarily count as horror, but I did watch a whole bunch of dragon movies a few months ago for no particular reason other than I rewatched Dragonheart when it was on TV and then kept going. I like that kinda thing, so if anyone else is zeroing in on a theme I'd like to hear about it!

Since I got around 20 or so Tiffany Shepis films to watch, I might just sprinkle them in throughout the month. Honestly some of those films, she‘s probably a minor cameo role, but still, she’s credited. Which means a lot of low-grade horror… and that might test my limit reverting back to old favourites.

I’ll probably try to cut down on YouTube/Tubi context, but usually things like that don’t go to plan. Look forward to reading your thoughts on the Price collection. Will they be all first-time viewings? Yeah, I thought I would start the discussion thread earlier than usual to get somewhat of an idea how this year’s challenge will track. And in that regards, I plan this to be my last time on hosting the challenge. I was thinking about it last year, so it’s not out of the blue. Doesn’t mean I won’t participate (if I’m around). Just my interest/desire in hosting has come to an end, after doing it 6 of the last 7 challenges. It’s weird to think I haven’t missed a challenge since it began on the old IMDb horror board back in 2005/or 2006. There have been times I haven’t completed the challenge, but never missed it. Anyhow the format is in place, and everyone (the regulars ) know the gist by now to help out newcomers… I guess it’s just starting it up & totalling up the final results where it involves some else taking up the reigns.

Any people doing any themes next month with their viewings habits, or simply going by their moods? I might squeeze in a couple franchises. Definitely Scream, as I still need to see 5 & 6. And curious to see how 3 & 4 standup. I plan to go through the directors you have asked us to rate movies by and watch more movies from them. Normally I have a specific way of picking the horror movies to watch, because I am obsessive in the way I choose movies to watch.

Gonna round out the careers of the big four (Craven, Carpenter, Hooper, Romero), and dip into some prestige filmmakers like Altman who made horror movies I never heard of. Friedkin and De Palma also have a few I haven't seen. On the back burner, I was thinking of catching up on trash sequels I've avoided. I'll already be watching Hills Have Eyes II to complete Craven. There's also stuff like Jaws 4 and Exorcist II I've never seen.

Oh, yeah. I forgot that was Altman. I didn't much care for the movie, but it does have a very unsettling score from John Williams and a terrific performance from Susannah York. Altman is hit or miss for me. I just saw The Company and wanted to kill myself. He is hit or miss for me as well. I haven't seen The Company. My least favorite movie I have seen from him is probably Quintet. A frustrating sci-fi movie starring Paul Newman.

So, to clarify the challenge 'rules'.
31 horror filums. 14 must be first time watches. Filums must be minimum 60 minutes long. Mini series e.g. Stephen King's Rose Red count, but the whole series only counts as 1 filum.
That's how I remember it anyway... Is that correct?
