I don't have access to video right now, but when you're talking memphis wrestling you're speaking my language! I'll have to have a look at it later. I did just buy the 1979 season of Memphis tv. So I am assuming that'll be on it.

I just watched from Georgia '83 a match for the national heavyweight championship in the studio with Brett Wayne defending against Jake the Snake Roberts. Real good match. Ole Anderson got on tv before the match and stated that he talked to Brett's mother and she said that there was another son that is sort of the black sheep of the family that took a different route. But Ole wouldn't reveal who it was. So during the match Buzz came out looking concerned whenever Brett was on the losing end of things. So Paul Ellering pushed Brett Back into the ring after Jake threw him out, and then Buzz flipped and pushed Ellering away and then Jake attacked him and they both made a comeback and then it was revealed that Buzz was Brett's brother. Pretty cool match and a good twist. I remember watching at the time but I don't think I knew they were brothers.

If anybody has watched anything lately pre 1990 post your thoughts on it. If you want.... Ah. Terrific. I always enjoyed reading your posts. Old School intellectual fan that enjoyed the 'glory days'. I'm ignorant to a lot of the old school Indy stuff and the territories; however Youtube is a goldmine and it's astonishing how drastically different the product is at times. Love the 'smaller' atmosphere of some territories and you get to see where some of these legends started off. Last days of IMDB, I tried to get a similar thread going with 'Classic' matches and posted one of Funk Vs. Flair from Clash of the Champions - I'm sure there's many sports entertainment fans out there like myself who would appreciate you throwing out the gems from time to time and having a general discussion on the matches, territories, etc. Love Youtubing AWA, WCCW, Memphis, Portland, etc

Good to see you here. The classics are mostly what I watch so maybe I am living in the past, but I love the stuff. So if you have any thoughts on what you watch on youtube I hope you'll post it here . I love those territories you mention. Portland is one area I've seen the least of. I will definitely rectify that in the future. I remember watching the Funk vs. flair from the clash but the memory is a little fuzzy. That's definitely one to revisit for me at some point.

Take the ball and run with it since you made the thread. I'm sure there's lots of old school fans around - or those that weren't around and appreciate it like me If you post a classic match from one of the territories from week to week and get a fanbase to tune in - I'll contribute. I love Youtubing the Kaufmann vs. Lawler feud - you find other gems by doing that - like Savage vs. Rude down South, Bundy with hair, Jimmy Hart (who I couldn't stand) - who's character I liked down South being a great heel - I rarely tune into today's product and would much rather watch yesterdays gold

I think what I'll probably do is post a youtube video of the things that stand out of what I've watched during the week. I"m currently watching 5 territories of the past now so that should have a lot of good material. Memphis being one of them as you mentioned. Plus if I remember something else that stood out for me I'll post that too.

You guys may have seen this already but in case you haven't I had to post one of my favorite clips. Batman seemed to be very under the weather on this particular day but he battled the odds as he always does and made his way into the memphis studio.

Watching his early years is great stuff.

Classic match from Championship wrestling from Florida one of my favorite territories of the time Huge Windham fan. Very disappointing some of the repackaging gimmicks WWF(E) gave him. Will never forget him jobbing in a matter of seconds to the Undertaker just like another legend Kerry Von Erich did. His NWA (WCW) clips on Youtube - awesome to watch. His swerves, time with the Horseman, main eventing etc. Legend.

Jake Roberts was a member of the legion of doom along with the road warriors and later on the Spoiler and almost Bundy. The backstory is The road warriors originally were managed by Ellering when they came into the territory but not long after that they attacked him and turned on him and dumped him as their manager. Then Ellering managed Buzz sawyer, and then later Roberts came into the territory. Soon after, Ellering managed Jake also. This is the point of where we're up to with this particular video. Not long after this video, the warriors rejoined with Ellering and backstage one day Animal came up with the Legion of doom name after watching the superfriends cartoon. From then on, all members of Paul Ellering's stable were members of the legion of doom.
There are a lot of people that call the Iron sheik, Buzz Sawyer, Arn Anderson, Matt borne all original LOD members. While Ellering did manage all of them earlier in the year, the name "Legion of Doom" had not been created or mentioned till the end of the year or early '84. Sorry for the longwinded response lol

I consider Barry Windham to be one of the greatest of all time. I don't remember his match with the Undertaker which is probably better that I don't. His stuff in Florida was just amazing. The feud he had with Ron bass was just awesome. And ofcourse the stuff later on with Crockett and the Horseman is unforgettable.

Sorry for the longwinded response lol No. It's cool. Like I said - I enjoy this stuff over today's stuff and even the past 15 years. Never knew Sheik, Borne and Sawyer were considered members too. Speaking of Sawyer - there's an awesome Clash of the Champions out there where Flair and the Horseman turn on Sting in later in the match the go against Sawyer and Muta's group. Horseman going in were supposed to be the faces - by the end of the night the crowd is cheering for Sawyer, Muta, etc. since Flair turned on Sting. Great event. And Borne (RIP) - there's an awesome clip out there when he joins ECW and cuts a promo with Shane Douglas after his 'Doink' days - talk about channeling a demented Roddy Piper - it's great stuff - haven't looked into how you post videos here - but being you're an old school fan you may already know of these two gems - if not - they're on Youtube.

I remember the Horseman turning on sting but I don't remember the match afterwards with Sawyer and muta. That period was so overloaded with all the best talent and tv some of it is fuzzy.
I did see the matt borne thing in ecw. I was an ecw fan so I watched it religiously at the time. That was a pretty cool thing they did with Matt borne. Didn't last long, but they did a lot of cool stuff for it's time.
To post a video, when you look at the reply window at the toolbar above, there's in icon and if you put your curser on it it says "insert video". When you click on that a box comes up and all you have to do is paste the youtube url into it and it embeds it in the post. I just figured that add last night lol

Is that Mr Wrestling II with Gordon Solie? Many fond memories of watching Georgia Championship Wrestling with my dad when I was a kid in the 80's.
