Just imagine these directors for season 8 Episode 1: Alan Taylor (Baelor, Fire and Blood) Episode 2: Neil Marshall (Blackwater, The Watches on the Wall, probably for the big early season battle) Episode 3: Alex Graves (The Children, The Mountain and the Viper, And Now His Watch Is Ended, Kissed by Fire etc.) Episode 4 and 6: Miguel Sapochnik (Hardhome, Battle of the Bastards, The Winds of Winter etc.) Episode 5: David Nutter (The Rains of Castamere, Mother's Mercy etc., probably the episode with a big unknown plot twist) Now this would be epic! That would be the dream team. As much as I liked Mylod's work on S7E3 and some of Podeswa's stuff in season 6 they need to scratch off these directors for the last season. They need to bring in the best directors possible. If we get another 4 episodes directed by Mylod and Podeswa I'll be very disappointed.

**spoilers below for episode 4 if you haven’t watched** My thoughts may be a bit all over the place/out of chronological order. Apologies for that. It was good to see Arya and Sansa reunite. I liked the way Arya handled those two guards (her advice to Sansa was right – she needs to get better ones) and that Sansa knew where she’d be. The reunion between them was more satisfying than Sansa’s reunion with Bran (can't say liking this emotionless Bran and his flat line deliveries at all. I’m glad Meera told him off before she...well...buggered off). It was good to see them remember Ned and when Sansa talked about how Jon seeing Arya would stop his heart, all I could think was, “... Again?”. Speaking of Jon, I thought his scene showing Dany the Dragonglass was really well done. Not just beautiful to look at, but their interaction as well. These two had really nice chemistry, I think. Another different sort of chemistry is that between Jon and Davos. Seriously, these two should’ve been paired up long ago, they’re so good together (the comment from Davos about catching Jon looking at Dany’s ‘good heart’ was amusing, as was his “Less.”/“Fewer” bit). Yet another reunion was Jon’s with Theon...which went about as well as could be expected. Although Theon’s been through a lot and I did feel sorry for him at times, I can’t blame Jon one bit for how he treated him. I’m glad Missandei made clear to Jon & Davos that she and everyone else there *chose* to support Dany because they believe in her. Couldn’t blame Davos for his line to Jon about switching sides. Another good team-up is Jaime and Bronn. Which brings us to...the battle. It was suitably epic...even BEFORE Dany rode Drogon onto the scene – though when she did, it became even *more* epic. That was masterfully done. Only complaint? All the animal violence. I mean, I’m not particularly into the gratuitous human violence either...but I can deal with that, whereas the horrible ways animals are treated in this show is too much. I didn’t see what Bronn did to that poor horse, but by the sounds it made...it was pretty nasty. And I also felt sorry for all those other horses that got shot/burned too. Speaking of...poor Drogon. Hated seeing him get injured (glad he destroyed that infernal contraption which hurt him), but he still saved Dany, which was a relief. Honestly, I would’ve been fine with Bronn and/or Jaime not making it out of the battle alive. I was more broken up about those two horses that got engulfed in flames. It was just so nice to finally see Dany let loose. A well-done episode. Very thrilling/tension-filled there at the end.
