Sheesh this has been a poorly promoted summer in Oz. It is only the second T20 in that Pakistan series, but if 2 had already happened and I'd missed both it wouldn't have surprised me.

Still struggling to see how England lost the match, absolutely coasting with only 2 down and sure enough, a couple of shite shots and it's El Callapso time again - England in New Zealand: Tourists collapse to 14-run defeat in third T20 - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/50298472Really like the look of Banton, while Vince and Malan showed the silky touches we know they have - but don't always show... There’s been some interesting cricket played recently in the shortest format, looking forward to the World Cup. The cream it seems is definitely rising roughly a year out from the event. Australia look a certainty to make a semi final spot especially given the weak group they have drawn (PAK, NZ, WI - all of whom are going backwards, plus 2 qualifiers more than likely SL and Netherlands) whilst England and India have their group to themselves too.
In Test Match news, it seems Australia is determined to try and commit suicide by picking failed players yet again. Yes, Nic Maddinson has been playing well for Victoria - but not well enough to be a walk up start like Mark Taylor seems to think he is. There is no way known they can pick Usman Khawaja, and why are they think8ng about dropping Travis Head and / or Mathew Wade for *shock horror* Shaun Marsh. AGAIN !. Again, he’s been mentioned for about the 25th recall of his career. I just don’t get it. Warner Harris / Burns Labuschagne Smith Head Wade It’s so simple it makes my head hurt.

TBF, whatever line up Oz go for it will be enough against Pak, it's kind of a free hit where they can give Marsh his last chance again! and try Maddinson. No?

If you want to throw in Maddinson, fine, but nit S Marsh again. He's had his last chance many times before and he's 36.

And to answer Sir Alfred, the entire Australian XI should face a firing squad if they don't win this series.

The difference between Marsh and Anderson is that Jimmy has established himself as one of the best two bowlers of his generation and the most prolific wicket taker England has ever had. Shaun Marsh has scored 6 hundreds in 38 tests over 9 years and averages 34. Imagine the 2006-07 Ashes comes around. Michael Vaughan can't go so the England selectors, based on weight of county runs, select Graeme Hick as his replacement.

98 actually. In Athers defence he had been telling Hick to get a move on for a few overs leading up to the declaration. I liked Peter Roebuck's piece in SMH the following day. "Atherton played an assured innings and never looked like getting out until he did. He then thankfully took it upon himself to deny Hick, who looked like getting out at least once an over but somehow did not, a century he,d done little to deserve."

I was on Athers side, Hick was boring and moronic in his approach in those last few overs, even Boyks wouldn't have taken that long to get 2 runs - Tavaré even!

Eng in NZ 5th International 20-20 NZ 70 runs in the first 4 overs And yet they still lost ! New Zealand really are struggling with 3rd-6th bowling options in T20 cricket. It’s Santner, Boult and then fingers crossed.
