No, you didn't miss anything actually. I flicked it over after the Supercars and Sri Lanka were 5-57 in the 12th over. That's all I needed to see. Watched a replay of the Phillip Island Motogp instead.

Same. Checked the score in a lull at work and it was 1/150 odd in the 14th I think. Game over. Didn’t bother. Ordinary crowd too BTW.
In brighter news, Ireland and Papua New Guinea have qualified for next years T20 World Cup. They will be joined by 4 other sides out of the following - Netherlands plays UAE. Winner qualifies, loser gets a second chance against Scotland to qualify. Namibia plays Oman. Winner qualifies, loser gets a second chance against Hong Kong to qualify.

Congrats to PNG. Crowds won't be great this summer with Pakistan playing the small venues in the tests and NZ getting the big venues. Think Boxing Day will struggle to cross 55'000 with that line up. The men's T20s and ODIs are basically being organised around the Women's WT20. Adding to the apathy is the men's games are safely tucked away on Fox Sports while every women's match is on FTA. C7 may soon regret the money they paid for the rights if they don't already.

Bangladesh captain banned for corruption Bangladesh Test captain Shakib al Hasan has been given a two-year ban for "failing to report corrupt approaches". The 32-year-old accepted three charges relating to requests for "inside information for betting purposes". The approaches came during an international tri-series also involving Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in January 2018 and that year's Indian Premier League. Shakib is the top all-rounder in the one-day international rankings and has played 338 matches for Bangladesh. He was the third-highest run-scorer in the 2019 Cricket World Cup and hit two hundreds, including against England in Cardiff in the group stage. "I am obviously extremely sad to have been banned from the game I love, but I completely accept my sanction for not reporting the approaches," said Shakib, who is also Bangladesh's Twenty20 captain. Alex Marshall, the general manager of the International Cricket Council's anti-corruption unit, said: "Shakib al Hasan is a highly experienced international cricketer. "He has attended many education sessions and knows his obligations under the code. He should have reported each of these approaches." www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/50222349

Not the cleverest of things to do.....

Pakistan who just lost at home to B grade SL side is about to take on Australia in Australia. I am not sure how much chance Pakistanis stand here. Although they do hope that their unpredictable status comes true. An issue of importance to come up is that Maxwell has been dealing with mental health issues. It's good that he came out instead of keeping it to himself. I hope he can feel well. "Glenn Maxwell takes a break to deal with 'difficulties with his mental health'" Read here: www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/27971825/glenn-maxwell-takes-break-deal-difficulties-mental-health

Unfortunately for Pakistan, their performances in Oz are very predictable. Tespectable in 89-90 and 95-96. Everything else has been shite.

Bangladesh also lost to Canada in the 03 World Cup, and Kenya were certainly better than the Canadians, so I'm not sure about that one. The 2010 and 1999 ones were pretty clearly fixed. Only question is whether they were trying to outright lose deliberately or were trying to manipulate the spread and margin and collapsed to a defeat as a result. Either way, a fix is a fix.

Chasing 218 in Joburg and getting bowled out by Maurice Odumbe and Steve Tikolo - both part time, one a dibbly dobbler and the other a straight breaker - seems a bit iffy to me. Doubly so considering that it eliminated South Africa, the favourites, and the West Indies, favoured to qualify for the super sixes. Triply so considering Odumbe was banned for Match Fixing.

It's not really worth arguing about, but that Bangladeshi team also got rolled for 120 by Austin Codrington and were 4-5 after one over against Chamibda Vaas. They were a truly shitty Tier One cricket team.

Were ? Still are. They’ll be really shit without Shakib ! The political machinations that saw Bangladesh’s rise to Test Status still ranks as the second most egregious mistake the ICC ever made. It had nothing to do with furthering cricket, and Bangladesh didn’t deserve promotion in any way shape or form. They were continually outplayed by both a Netherlands and Kenya for years. It was solely so Asia could outvote and manipulate the ICC to their whims with their majority (of course, they had Zimbabwe and South Africa in their back pockets). The worst ? The boneheaded and short sighted policy of only allowing “Commonwealth” nations into the ICC when it was created in the 1900’s. Of course it was the Imperial Cricket Council, not International, but it effectively killed off the growing patronage of the sport in the Netherlands, France and Denmark; and it also doubly killed off the game in North America and Argentina. No matter what happened, games in these nations were not considered first class, only national sides playing already first class approved sides. In effect, this policy is still enforced today to a large extent, except for T20 cricket. Why a 4 day game played between say Argentina and Brazil, on a turf wicket with 11 a side, isn’t first class, But a game between the Karachi Bank and the Indian Railways is, Ill never know.

New Zealand 153/5 England 154/3 (18.3/20 ov, target 154). There was no Boult and Southee was captaining NZ.
Meanwhile, SL currently 43-2 against Australia in 6.3 Overs.

New Zealand beat England by 21 runs to level T20 series - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/50279217England dropped 5 catches! The Kiwis held all theirs... Vince has now dropped 4 simple catches on the tour so far, I was wondering if anyone has gone up to him and questioned whether a change of sun glasses might be in order? Seriously, he is dropping dollies.
