Translation: I got nothing. True - in a round about way. More accurately, I needed nothing. The response was calibrated perfectly to the level of intellect of the comment that proceeded it. A dull (and not so subtle) pivot deserves a sweet chortle. Enjoy another, compliments of Lord Death Man. Hee hee hee... Enjoy a myopic worldview where hip-hop is ubiquitous to blackness. Hee hee

Ok that's enough of that. This is about the Black Panther trailer, not petty bickering.

The music itself was good enough , I don't have an issue with it. I can perhaps see why people don't think it's a suitable fit though. Has any other MCU movie had a trailer where it plays hip hop music or was it done for this one just because the cast is black? Otherwise I don't see why this trailer in particular would have hip hop music compared to all the others.

Please stop both of you before I start deleting posts. Both of you are smarter than this. Wait- You're a mod, Iron Panther? Neat. How does one obtain this status, I wonder?

As for the trailer- I love me some unique mythology and interesting fantasy settings... But, as my old friend President Ackb- I mean, Darth Snoke mentioned, there is a lot of CGI. I guess I'll have to see whether the real locations, which look great, overshadow the green screen stuff.
Also, I'm not quite convinced that he is a compelling enough lead. The mythos seems interesting, but I found BP a bit dull in Cap CW.

Otherwise I don't see why this trailer in particular would have hip hop music compared to all the others. I think it was done for the simple reason that it hasn't been done in the genre before let alone the MCU. To me, Hip-Hop music is as valid a choice as any other music genre they could have used. The idea that because it takes place in Africa, the trailer needs traditional African music is absurd and too on the nose. The use of Hip Hop music fits in with the theme of taking disparate concepts and playing them off of one another. And for those not in the know, while Hip Hop may have started in America, it's a world-wide phenomenon at this particular point in history. "If you catch me at the border, I got visas in my name."

Because primeone immediately attacked someone, accusing them of racism for not finding the film appealing, which sparked a huge argument. Blame the trolls. They refuse to behave.

I'm deleting posts that are just people arguing and insulting each other which only derails what is a worthwhile thread. Would you not rather see people comment on the trailer than see people throwing insults back and forth?

That’s a nice excuse for a tacky choice of soundtrack. I just hope that it’s not indicative of the tone of the film. Black Panther doesn’t live in a vacuum, but he’s got more important things going on, culturally and thematically, than AA pop culture. agreed. Noisy, generic pop soundracks suck in all recent trailors Thor, JL, Mutants and this one. Really shows at what kind of audience these are directed at. Well I wouldn't call it noisy and generic given they're pretty popular songs from the 70s and 80s. They're definitely better than the unbearable crap that gets played on the radio these days.

There are various reasons for this. But it was Black Panther that I was worried about most regarding rap. If it’s indicative of the style of the film, I think they really dropped the ball. That said, I did see the remainder of the trailer and visually it looks spectacular.

In most cased they do not even fit lyric, tone and rythm wise. They are just there for pseudo-DC-ing and for soundtrack selling purposes.
It's the cheap way of getting attention by using some already popular piece instead of creating something new. I am more acceptiong of songs that have specifically been created for a movie, as these mostly fit tone and theme wise.

I couldnt resist the seduction and now Im trapped on the dark side. don't you worry, that is the fate of the chosen ones to first leave the Force in darkness before they can bring true balance. It is messy and not always pretty, people might get bitchy, but it's a dramatic necessity in the the hero's journey.
