Is justice league a leave your brain at the door comedy and just have fun? HOPE NOT. Why do you feel you can't enjoy a film unless it "says" something? There is nothing else happening in the world that occupies your brain?

Is justice league a leave your brain at the door comedy and just have fun? HOPE NOT. The DCEU already had one of those, and it was called Suicide Squad.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Thor ends up making more money than Justice League actually.

Will it?
Thor's going to have close to $120mil this weekend. What's JL going to get? $125? $130? Is that showing Ragnarok the door? I'm asking seriously, because I would think on it's face, Thor and JL being that close to equal, might be kind of concerning for DC. JLA will likely be north of $125 mill. Quality won't matter so long as they can have their heroes on screen "winning". Suicide Squad was dreadful yet took $133 mill. But Thor beat WW? Good heavens. I'm honestly not sure what sold SS as much as it did. Thor beating WW doesn't really shock me. I really think people overestimate how popular characters like WW are. I've never thought that was an automatic win for instance. Is she more well known? Yeah probably, but that doesn't mean anybody cares more and I think this box office result more or less proves that. WW had all the buzz you could imagine, and an additional % of female audience that Thor just doesn't get, and it was a pretty clear win. I mean like you said, SS squad crushed her and it was a terrible movie, so where is the logic here?
And I think JL is similarly a little overrated. I mean BVS didn't do as well you would think, and there's worry about JL out there. Yeah I agree it will do reasonably well at least to start, but it's a film that should be getting 150 plus pretty easy.

I am really wavering between first or second weekend. I will see it, but do I want to help it beat my Favorite Hero?

Mcu fans will be lambasted and treated to hourly updates on the success of that film. We felt more isolated on IMDB. It took a few more clicks to get to each board. Here its just "I'm pissed! I'm going to troll the Marvel boards!" I mean, yeah, they trolled hard, but they seem to practically live here now.

I still haven't seen BVS and only watched MOS on a bet to get my brother to watch the Godfather finally. I saw WW and SS because my wife thinks they're fun. She's a 3rd grade teacher and was into twilight, so I've suffered before lol. She's a member of that demographic who doesn't normally watch these types of things who I've talked about showing up to films like WW.

I've no desire to see it, either, and I'm a HUGE Justice League fan. The film looks like a direct betrayal of everything the JL is supposed to be.

I know there's a lot of CGI in MCU films, but JL doesn't feel the slightest bit real to me.

I can't get over the aquaman falls through a building and surfs out scene. Am I crazy for thinking that just looks straight up goofy?

It looks goofier than anything that's happened in the MCU, except it wasn't deliberate, thus no sense of self-awareness. That's kind of what a comic book movie of this kind needs: a willingness to be fun and a full self-awareness that a movie about a billionaire who pounds poor people with his bare fists, a Greek demigoddess, Space Hercules, Aquaman, a guy who runs fast, and a robot brotha is kind of silly in and of itself.

And Supergirl, Catwoman, and Elektra were female leads in CBMs before. So this completely destroys your "anti-misogynist" arguments about Wonder Woman having "artificial boosters".
If anything, we can say all of MCU got "artificial boosters" 1st from Superman: The Movie (because without Superman: The Movie, there is no superhero genre and no MCU) Sorry. Superhero films have been around longer than you think Your precious DC heroes weren't the first. Those were low-budget serial movies and nothing like the big-budget superhero movies of today. Superman: The Movie was the 1st big-budget superhero movie (I think it may have had the largest budget of any Hollywood movie at that time). If Superman: The Movie hadn't been successful, then movie studios wouldn't have continued making big-budget superhero movies and the CBM genre wouldn't exist today and there would never have been any MCU. So the existence of MCU is de to the "artificial boosters" it got, 1st from Superman: The Movie and later from The Dark Knight.

Well it can be done in a serious way as well, take Civil War for example. But setting it in a world that doesn't feel real any way just doesn't play. And I don't mean it has to feel like real life as we know it on Earth. Asgard feels real. But when it doesn't feel realistic, I'm out.

Marvel Studios applies the right balance of serious and camp to avoid taking people out of the picture, unlike the DCEU. Plus, they'd earned Civil War by the time they did it. The DCEU really hasn't earned any of the things its trying to do so soon.

I love real humor in films when it feels like somebody would say it, or a ball bouncing off a window and hitting somebody in the head would happen.
