Yeah, but that's the thing. Marvel Studios applies the right balance of serious and camp to avoid taking people out of the picture, unlike the DCEU. Plus, they'd earned Civil War by the time they did it. The DCEU really hasn't earned any of the things its trying to do so soon. Agreed and agreed
I love real humor in films when it feels like somebody would say it, or a ball bouncing off a window and hitting somebody in the head would happen.
Exactly. At the end of the day, the DCEU needs to stop trying to preempt Marvel. The only reason they killed Superman was because they figured Cap or Tony was going to die in Civil War, and by damn they weren't going to be in second place to kill a major character. Then everyone survived Civil War and the DCEU ended up with a needlessly dead Superman. Now they want to rush to Infinity Way-level series finale with Darkseid, but they've done absolutely none of the groundwork to earn it, unlike Marvel, which is ending a decade-lone saga next year. Yeah, sure, they were the first to kill a major character, but no one cared because no one can like this Superman. Sure, they might get to Darkseid first, but no one cares because he's not been built up as a threat yet.

I've no desire to see it, either, and I'm a HUGE Justice League fan. The film looks like a direct betrayal of everything the JL is supposed to be. It just looks fake to me. I know there's a lot of CGI in MCU films, but JL doesn't feel the slightest bit real to me. It looks like a video game.

And ‘Coco’ will show ‘Justice League’ the door only a week after.

That's exactly what I mean. It really looks like it's some video game franchise. I can't get over the aquaman falls through a building and surfs out scene. Am I crazy for thinking that just looks straight up goofy? Cyborg in particular looks bad. You know, when I first saw him in the teaser, I thought they'll fix his CGI in post. No way he's going to look bad in the final product. He still looks fake. Iron Man in 2008 looked more real than him.

He was never a pillar of hope in the DCEU films. He was never the Boy Scout in Blue. He was never the smiling savior of humanity who got kittens out of trees for children. He was never on good terms with the public at all. He was a frowning, glowering "god" that most people seemed to hate just for being. And his death happened in a fight most weren't able to see, and yet that somehow inspires them to change their minds about him?

Say what you will about Angry Joe, but he was absolutely right about ‘The Death of Superman’ story being utterly wasted.

If Captain Marvel gets the praise and success as Wonder Woman, would you say the same thing? Would you make a similar claim for Black Panther? In a way, yes. I mean if a highly disproportionate number of women show up to WW or Capt Marvel than do for any other comic book film, then you have to factor that in. And the same thing with Black Panther if a significantly larger number of aftrican americans turn out.
To be clear, if you look at WW's domestic vs international box office, she's the only one with a higher domestic total. The reason for this is because the woman factor plays stronger in America than it does elsewhere. So yes, it's an 800 million movie, and that's fine, but in terms of how it was received as a just a comic movie, without the social factor drawing in additional women, it's really more of a 700 film. And that's also fine.
As long as you and formersamhmd are consistent with this argument. That's all I ask for, consistency.

And they've pretty much made it impossible for Cavill to bow out of the role in any meaningful way.

Sorry. Superhero films have been around longer than you think Your precious DC heroes weren't the first. Those were low-budget serial movies and nothing like the big-budget superhero movies of today. Superman: The Movie was the 1st big-budget superhero movie (I think it may have had the largest budget of any Hollywood movie at that time). If Superman: The Movie hadn't been successful, then movie studios wouldn't have continued making big-budget superhero movies and the CBM genre wouldn't exist today and there would never have been any MCU. So the existence of MCU is de to the "artificial boosters" it got, 1st from Superman: The Movie and later from The Dark Knight. Films were more like that in those days. They were churned out as A movies or B movies & the bill was a cartoon, a serial, a newsreel & the double feature A & B movies.

Mcu fans will be lambasted and treated to hourly updates on the success of that film. We felt more isolated on IMDB. It took a few more clicks to get to each board. Here its just "I'm pissed! I'm going to troll the Marvel boards!" I mean, yeah, they trolled hard, but they seem to practically live here now. We were fighting on multiple fronts back then. The anti-mcu factions here are weak and lazy. There arguments and attempts at dividing the fandom are laughable. They can’t accept the fact that Marvel IP has captured the popular zeitgeist and all other fandoms must kneel.

I hope Justice League is half as much fun as Ragnarok was. It doesn't have to be as goofy, just make the damn thing fun to watch. Give me characters I can get behind and a story that makes sense in the least. DC is trending up after WW so I'm hoping for the best.

We lost so many of them. Blueberryicedcoffee lived on the Marvel boards. I very rarely saw him on the DC boards SkittyKitty. People would bitch about all the Batman threads on the Avengers boards & the people making them complained ours was the only boards they could discuss them on. Anything other than Nolan was shouted down. The only reason I started visiting the DC boards there was that complaint. And they were right. It seemed to be a bunch of high school kids. I had seen a Thursday night preview (free guest) so I was on the DKR board when word filtered through about a shooting in Colorado. Every so often someone would start a "lets go troll marvel!" There was that one fool kept posting song lyrics. Pushups & red X.
