Putting them on a list doesn't prove you've seen them. You have form. You have lied about seeing films in the past.

Captain America? TWS is maybe the best comic book movie ever. Not even close. Wonder Woman is a much better movie than Winter Soldier. Winter Soldier was never considered for an Oscar for Best Picture. Wonder Woman is a serious contender for a Best Picture Oscar nomination. Even if this were true, which it is not, they are in different years so it does not matter. TWS is a much better movie.

It was an absolute joke how many chances Hollywood gave the character at having movies but of course if one female lead comic book movie failed it was 'cause of the gender of the character.

I respect your opinion but I disagree To each their own but I am not even sure how this could be possible. TWS is pretty much better in every way. It is especially telling on rewatches. TWS has WAY better action for one and that can not even be argued.

It was the best of the Cap films (not much competition from the first one TBH) I just liked WW better.

They really are no more than revenge movies, which I love. The Lundgren one was poor but not a flop, the Jane one was passable, the Stevenson one I love for it being a dumb fun film in the vein of Ghost Rider. Saying the character was given more chances because he was a male character I don't think is quite right. With these things character rights come into play. The second film was made when Marvel got the rights back, so why not make a film of a character whose popularity had increased over the interim period..and it was a modest Box Office success. The third film was a (failed) attempt to kick start the Marvel Knights imprint on film...and The Punisher was the most popular on that imprint, and had previously had proved to be a fair success (especially on home media)....it flopped, no more Punisher films. The character was given 3 chances, but after some success. I'm struggling to think of any CBM movie that was given a second chance after being a financial failure..male or female. The fact is, if it flopped first time round, avoid doing it again. There haven't been that many female led CBMs, but I'm sure that sequels to the failures were not made becuase they were female led, but because they were a financial risk. Resident Evil and Underworld continued because they made money, not because or despite of the gender of the lead (not CBM movies I know but your average Joe doesn't know or care about origins in other media of the character anyway). Aeon Flux, Supergirl, Catwoman...flopped, therefore no second chance. Elektra was badly recieved, made a little money, but she was a character that was given a second chance...and that was her own film....and like a Daredevil and Punisher, when it seemed that another film may not be viable, they give them another chance on TV. If there are any female led CBM movies that were a success, but didn't get a sequel then I can't think of one.

But just for fun they're doing it this year with GOTG2 and Ragnarok.

Nah, Disney is frothing at the mouth for an Oscar because they're desperate for any way to reverse the accurate narrative that the DCEU is ascendant and has reclaimed its rightful place atop the superhero movie food chain. The oppression of the MCU will never return. You have lost.

This is insane and has gone off topic. I see idiot DCEU fans that praised crap like BvS saying movies like Captain America are terrible. It would be hilarious if it were not so sad. The FACT is that the DCEU has pretty much sucked so far. Why does this get debated so much? BvS and SS are not better than ANY MCU movie. Seriously this should not even be debated. TMNT? The first one was great. Captain America? TWS is maybe the best comic book movie ever. Punisher? Not perfect but Jane's Punisher was like Citizen Kane next to BvS. ^^^This.

If there are any female led CBM movies that were a success, but didn't get a sequel then I can't think of one. From what I heard both 'Catwoman' and 'Elektra' made more money at the Box Office than the entire 3 'Punisher' movies and 'The Punisher: War Zone' was meant to be a sequel to the 2004 movie but Thomas Jane walked out of the series. Both 'Catwoman' and 'Elektra' were horrible but the problem with 'Catwoman' was one of the biggest examples of sexism towards female characters in comic book movies. It was not about Selina Kyle and they used a script for another movie and made some changes to it and called it 'Catwoman.' They wouldn't dare make a 'Batman' movie about a guy named Todd who could turn into a bat and drank people's blood or a 'Superman' movie with a blonde surfer named Mick that had a flying surfboard but that is exactly what they did with the 'Catwoman' movie and they stupidly thought it would be successful. I went to the movie threatres to see 'Catwoman' when it came out and a lot of people were saying "what is this" and "that is not Catwoman" and Warner Bros essentially tried to sabotage the 'Catwoman' name by making a horrible movie that wasn't about Selina Kyle 'cause Michelle Pfeiffer and Tim Burton abandoned the original movie and they had a deadline to get the movie completed. Elektra was written as an 'Elektra' movie but it was a sequel to a movie that was generally considered a flop and was so poorly written the main star (Ben Affleck) walked out of it and called it the worst movie he ever did. 'Elektra' should have not been the first Marvel female superhero movie - that should have went to Ms Marvel (Carol Danvers) - Marvel's biggest selling female superhero of all time and Ms Marvel should have also been in the MCU before Black Widow.
Very few female lead comic book movies are given no matter how popular and how many comic books they sell. 'Witchblade' is the biggest example of this and the movie with Angelina Jolie as Sara and Marc Silvestri writing the script could have been the biggest selling female superhero movie ever made since it was at the height of Angelina Jolie's career and 'Witchblade's popularity. Angelina Jolie was a fan of the series which is why she signed on to it and thought it would have been big but the studios wouldn't let a female lead comic book movie have a chance at success just like Warner Bros screwed Peter David out of the 'Supergirl/Linda Danvers' movie in the early 00s 'cause one of the heads didn't want an edgier Supergirl than Superman on screen. Ron Marz said it best when he said Hollywood hates strong women and he could write a comic book series that sold a billion copies but don't expect to see it on screen anytime soon if it had a female lead. When choosing to make movies of superheroes they skipped over all the biggest selling female lead comic book series or put them on hold and scrapped them but made movies of the most obscure male lead series 'cause they had male leads. Hundreds of male and female comic book writers have said it and people who worked in the industry. They didn't want any female lead comic book movies like Witchblade, Fathom, Hack/Slash, Darkchylde, Birds of Prey, the Magdalena, Supergirl (Linda Danvers), Shi, Razor, Soulfire, Warrior Nun Areala etc having any success 'cause they believed strong female superheroes were emasculating to men and pushed the belief that we wouldn't want them 'cause we only like Romantic Comedy movies. Now things are changing but are moving at a very slow speed and I will always say the industry is sexist until we get a big screen 'Witchblade' movie 'cause there is no other comic book series that has been that successful and spawned its own universe of spinoff series like as the Darkness, Aphrodite IX, The Magdalena, Artifacts, the Angelus, the Necromancer, Switch etc that has never had one chance at the big screen. Stan Lee called 'Witchblade' the greatest comic book series he didn't create and actually said on one of the graphic novels when he was praising it up it would be a forced to be reckoned with on screen.

Catwoman did make more than all The Punisher films..but importantly, it didn't make a profit. The first 2 Punisher films did (the 3rd totally tanked. Not sure if the Danvers Ms Marvel is the biggest selling female Marvel title or not (it certainly is the longest running combined I think), but I'd say at the time Elektra was made, it was the one female character that was most likely to get on screen. She has been hugely popular since Frank Miller introduced her to Daredevil in the 80's and her storylines and limited series and graphic novel, were considered some of the must-reads during the comics resurgence of the mid-80s. For me she was always the girl most likely when it came to a female Marvel character making the big screen. (an adaptation of Elektra:Assassin mini series would make a great film)

it just seems hypocritical. Agreed. Those MCU fans are full of hypocrisy! Let's cut the bullshit, both fandoms are guilty of hypocrisy.

The fucked up thing about this is the fact that a TV show did the character more Justice than any of the films. I'm only 10 episodes in and I'm already begging for a second season!
