As for award nominations for Wonder Woman there is always the razzies. DC has been collecting those like hotel cushion mints.

I saw The Shape of Water today. I can see why all the nominations. I am *so* excited to see it. I was worried that it wouldn't get a wide release, but del Toro just tweeted that it's being released nationwide on the 22nd. Cannot wait, it looks superb. It is beautiful. Shannon is fricken evil. Zod could have taken lessons.

So they only want it to be nominated simply because it was directed by a woman?
I kinda need something more than a director gender.

6,731 signatories might disagree with you. So tell me, if the #GiveCaptainAmericaaBoyfriend thing never caught on, why was it trending?

There are a few things that stand out here for me... And they are the usual suspects because they are considered great directors who are regularly recognised at awards. Not seen all their films but their work may well be better than any female director this year. I would hope that is the only basis for their nomination...the quality of the work. Should that be the sort of success that get's an award? She achieved something no other woman has, but does that make her a better director than the other nominees? Also the majority of voters are not American, and Wonder Woman was not that big a deal around most of the rest of the world. Personally I was surprised that there wasn't a female director nomination, mainly because of the number of high profile, well reviewed films directed by women seemed more than previous years (though Jenkins would not have been one I would ever have expected to get a nod) If anything, I think this perceived snub may influence the Academy to recognise more female directors, which I welcome if it isn't at the cost of who actually merits it. Unless there is some proof everyone got together and thought "let's not vote for a woman" how is this a deliberate snub? Is it just a case of some peoples work was considered better than some others being called a "snub". I'm sure like me you haven't seen all the films in question. And I'm sure that a lot of people doing the voting would have more knowledge about directorial skill than either of us would. So why should we assume an absence of women is a deliberate snub? The #MeToo connection I'm struggling to understand the relevance Yes the disgusting treatment of some women by some men in Hollywood was exposed....but why should that really have any impact on who is nominated, unless some sort of apology/compensation/penance is expected to be paid from one gender to another in the shape of an award. .

If any director was robbed from a recognition, it was Dennis Villeneuve. Not Patty Jenkins, not Dee Rees, not Greta Gerwig but Dennis Villeneuve.
"Instead, the voters of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association came up with what feels like a list of the usual white male suspects: Steven Spielberg, Ridley Scott, Guillermo del Toro, Martin McDonagh and Christopher Nolan."
Christ Jesus, these directors are all excellent! Some of the BEST directors working today.

You are looking at the wrong thing to complain about. How about complaining about all the Ridley Scott related awards for a movie that is still in the editing stage and hasn’t been screened for anyone at this point.
The Golden Globes show is a scam

Out of those I might be on board with the best score nomination. The music was incredible indeed.

Movie awards are meaningless. Especially the Golden Globes. And the award for Best Picture goes to...!!!!

Have you seen all the films nominated and considered as serious contenders, in the categories you believe Wonder Woman should have been nominated in? When you have then you can confidently say it was snubbed, rather than linking one persons (laughable view) on the internet.

Okay, so what about that time people petitioned for a gay/bisexual Captain America? That's probably the LGBT community, not MCU fans. Why would MCU fans want Cap to be gay? They just wouldn't. I'm a MCU fan and I actually wouldn't mind Steve Rogers being Bisexual.
