No SAG nominations No National Board Of Review award and not in their Top films of the year No mention in the New York Film Critics Circle Awards Not in the Empire Magazine top films of the year Not in Sight & Sound/BFI films of the year
No complaints of a "snub" for these
Perhaps Wonder Woman is a little overrated by some of it's fans.

That's probably the LGBT community, not MCU fans. Why would MCU fans want Cap to be gay? They just wouldn't. I'm a MCU fan and I actually wouldn't mind Steve Rogers being Bisexual. Neither would I. Although, my guess is that it wouldn't be a popular decision with the majority of CBM fans.

You are looking at the wrong thing to complain about. How about complaining about all the Ridley Scott related awards for a movie that is still in the editing stage and hasn’t been screened for anyone at this point. The Golden Globes show is a scam Ssshhh!!! It's a secret man! .....In all seriousness, The Tourist (2010) getting what, 3 or 4 nominations was my first wake-up call.

I would have given Kathryn Bigelow a GG for Best Director for Detroit. It was a very well directed film, very intense as well

There are a few things that stand out here for me... And they are the usual suspects because they are considered great directors who are regularly recognised at awards. Not seen all their films but their work may well be better than any female director this year. I would hope that is the only basis for their nomination...the quality of the work. Should that be the sort of success that get's an award? She achieved something no other woman has, but does that make her a better director than the other nominees? Also the majority of voters are not American, and Wonder Woman was not that big a deal around most of the rest of the world. Personally I was surprised that there wasn't a female director nomination, mainly because of the number of high profile, well reviewed films directed by women seemed more than previous years (though Jenkins would not have been one I would ever have expected to get a nod) If anything, I think this perceived snub may influence the Academy to recognise more female directors, which I welcome if it isn't at the cost of who actually merits it. Unless there is some proof everyone got together and thought "let's not vote for a woman" how is this a deliberate snub? Is it just a case of some peoples work was considered better than some others being called a "snub". I'm sure like me you haven't seen all the films in question. And I'm sure that a lot of people doing the voting would have more knowledge about directorial skill than either of us would. So why should we assume an absence of women is a deliberate snub? The #MeToo connection I'm struggling to understand the relevance Yes the disgusting treatment of some women by some men in Hollywood was exposed....but why should that really have any impact on who is nominated, unless some sort of apology/compensation/penance is expected to be paid from one gender to another in the shape of an award. . From what I heard a few days they could be making a change next year with 'Best Male Director' and 'Best Female Director' categories and I am surprised they didn't already consider this before with the male and female acting awards being kept separate. I personally think they should add more genres to the Golden Globes and there should be awards for best Horror, Action, Thriller, Sci Fi and superhero movie every year. These are genres that release a ton of movies every year so it is not hard to come up with a selection for every category.

More end of year lists...and Wonder Woman's position
Time Out (London) - Top 20 of 2017 - No. 20 The Independent - Top 20 of 2017 - not listed Esquire - Top 25 - not listed The Atlantic - Top 10 - not listed Variety - two writers with their Top 10 - no listed in either LA Times (Justin Chang) Top 12 - not listed The Guardian - counting down daily the Top 50 - only 2 left to announce - no mention yet of WW. rogerebert.com - 36 critics listed their Top 10's of 2017 - WW appears in only 4.
Looks like there are a lot of petitions to start.

These are genres that release a ton of movies every year so it is not hard to come up with a selection for every category It kinda makes sense...why do actors have separate awards for genders but not directors? But where should it end? Should every category be gender split? I think splitting the director category by gender could be very counter-productive. Why should the sex of the director have any bearing at all on the work on screen or how well it is done. It could almost be seen as "women cannot do as well as the men let's give them their own little category". Acting is split I guess because only a woman can play a female part and a man a male part...they are gender specific jobs. Other awards are not gender specific because any sex should be considered equally capable of doing the job, and accolades should be given for the job done. The truth is it is not the academy's, critics' etc that are at fault, but the industry throughout the years. The fact is there are a LOT less female directors than male ones (and maybe a lot less are given a chance to direct)...mathematically it is no surprise men dominate the nominations. It's not just directors. How many female film composers, let alone nominees can you name? Special fx creators? It does seem a little different perhaps this year because there have been a lot of female directed films this year that had great reviews and success (though of all of them Patty Jenkins would have been the surprise nomination for me) I personally think they should add more genres to the Golden Globes and there should be awards for best Horror, Action, Thriller, Sci Fi and superhero movie every year. These are genres that release a ton of movies every year so it is not hard to come up with a selection for every category. I like that idea...it would make the Golden Globes stand out more at least. Though how many categories, and who defines them? I can see other categories being used as a dumping ground for films deemed nearly good enough for the drama award but not in the Top 5. It's the only reason I can see for example The Martian being put in the musical/comedy category. Or Get Out.

I agree about starting to hate the movie because of these ridiculous fans. Wonder Woman was a good movie, that is it. There were many better movies this year. It is not some masterpiece or special in any way. I did enjoy it guys, but let's get real here.

I will ask the question I asked on the Film General boards. Which Director should have been removed and which should have been added? All of the nominated Directors deserved to be there over any female Director I have heard mentioned.

Making specific categories like that moves it closer to being the MTV movie awards.
