I was just anxious to leave the place so I could re-invent myself (a term that didn't exist at the time) in college. I think I was successful in this.
Class of 1963, John Marshall High School, San Antonio, Texas.

Hated them. I probably would have loved them if circumstances were different. Way,way, too much was heaped on my plate for any kid, but that's the way it was. Buck up and deal.

I generally enjoyed it. Middle school was the worst imo.

Could have done a few things differently to make it a more enjoyable experience, despite academic success. Still, wouldn't want to go back regardless, and especially not today.

At the time, I thought I hated it. But now, I have many good memories from that time. I wish I could go back then to how crap current day is.

Class of 1994
I loved them. Some of the best years of my life. Sure there were some awkward situations from time to time, but it was nothing too terrible. The good times definitely out weighed the bad.

I had a lot of friends in my neighborhood during that time period in my life, but it did not end well and I'm glad that it's over. I was also not a huge fan of school. School always felt like torture to me.

Grade 9 was hell - primarily because I was one of the 'new kids', and I was considerably shorter and weaker than my peers. I mean, I was called names, picked on, abused by bullies. If that weren't enough, prior to the last week of school, I was in hospital for an emergency appendectomy! Luckily, I had no final exams to write.
Grade 10 was...a little bit better.
Grades 11, 12 and 13 were great, maybe because instead of being the hunted, I was the hunter in those years. I made honour roll in grades 11 and 12. You are reading that correctly - I took an extra year. It wasn't until the end of grade 12 where I was encouraged to go to university. I figured my grades weren't good enough to go to university.
1989-1994 were the years I went to high school.

I can honestly sum up my high school years in one word: irrelevant.

I loved high school. I couldn't wait to move on from 8th grade. I was able to stay at one place for four years unlike middle school where the county changed jurisdictions and divided a bunch of us up.
I met some pretty interesting people. Made friends with a lot of them. Had some teachers that were pretty awesome. Enjoyed a lot of my classes. Though, for some odd reason, I never bothered with after-school activities. I should have been more involved.
I was a little sad when graduation rolled around. I figured I wasn't going to see anymore of my fellow classmates with the exception of a few. It's not as though we had social media back then. I'm kinda glad we do nowadays.
C/O 2000.

You too, huh?
I became more and more sure that high school was 5 years (for me) a waste of time.
Everything I ever needed to know, I learned from three places:
University Jeopardy!, and The Simpsons
About The Simpsons, on the show, I learned about The Sword of Damocles.
My boss asked me to fax a page to our head office. So, I did.
Later on, he said something like, "Ask the guy who faxed it to you about it". My response was, "Gee, thanks. Meanwhile, The Sword of Damocles is dangling over my head...."
I knew he was enriched in the classic, and he just about bust a gut laughing. Either that, or he did NOT expect me to say that at all!
I added:
AND I LEARNED THAT FROM THE SIMPSONS, TOO!
