No. I was bullied incessantly in the 7th grade by some mean kid. Today, he is a loved and respected college professor. Can't win. You allowed yourself to be bullied by a kid you acknowledge as being skinny and little? What the heck were you afraid of?! It was 1967, I was 12 and tall, skinny and not cute. And a girl, too. The bullying was mainly verbal and mental and the kid was sort of popular. I was told by my parents and the school disciplinarian to ignore it. Way to blame the victim, much?

I find bullying absolutely hilarious, mate. Kids need to be toughened up at a young age or they are going to be victims their whole lives. The strong shall survive.

Way to blame the victim, much? that's right! many children were brought up to not hit or retaliate back under any circumstances. and back then the school only did as much as the parents would allow. if your parents told you to turn the other cheek and ignore it, then the school backed that up. only now we have this 'my mom told me to hit back' and the school says we have a zero tolerance policy against hitting. and back then, the only abuse 'realized' was physical. sticks and stones and all that crap.

sugarbiscuits, just because you put offtopic doesn't make this any less bizarre or inappropriate.

no one naturally bullies others. bullying is a learned behavior. either learned by what their parents do or what they DON'T DO. you'd be surprised as to how many school bullies go home to parent bullies.

There has been an awful lot of talk about size and physical actions in bullying.
Bullying is not necessarily about size or even about physicality. It's a control and power thing ! Knowing that is similar to knowing that rape is not about sex ... it's about power and control.
The weapons in bullying are more often words and not fists.

"Of Mice and Men" Lenny's Friend George speaks about bullying : George Milton: [to Slim as they are washing up] Lenny and me, we growed up together. At first I made fun of Lennie. I use to play jokes on him 'cause he was too dumb to take care of himself. He was too dumb to even know when jokes was being played on him. You know, it made me seem smart alongside of 'em.
About Curly - one of those little guy bullies
Candy: Curly's like a lot of little guys. He hates big guys. Kinda like he's mad at em, 'cause he ain't a big guy. You've seen a lotta little guys, ain't ya? always spattin'

I wasn't blaming you. I was bullied as kid myself. But usually by kids who were bigger and in groups. But if one of them was skinny and little I'da taken his ass! Girls in my school fought guys all the time! And some of them won too! It's unfortunate but in instances like that you have to give as good as you get. Bully kids don't always understand anything else.

Bully kids don't always understand anything else. as i said before it boils down to what you are taught at home. some children are taught to be reserved but stand up for themselves. others were taught to step on anyone to get what you want. others are taught to obey. i was taught to obey and when i was bullied all throughout school i just dealt with it internally. only once did my mother do something about bullying but that was because it was a sexual harassment case. all other things were: just ignore it. well. ignoring it sometimes works it sometimes doesn't.

No. It takes a piece away from you, getting bullied that is, sometimes you get it back, while other times you don't.

No. You would have to be pretty sick and demented to find those things funny unless the person was a real nasty piece of work and deserved it like a rapist, serial killer and pedophile but even then I don't find real violence funny.

In movies and TV, sometimes, especially when the intent is humor or, where violence is concerned, excitement. I don't find real life bullying and violence the least bit funny.
