The MCU ten years milestone had me thinking about the movies, so while I was at it I decided to write down what I think. Of course, these are not facts but mere personal opinions, so if for any reason anybody feels the absolute necessity to be offended, well I'm sorry because that's not my intention, but ultimately it's their problem, not mine. Also, in general I like the idea of the MCU, I applaud the effort and I admire how big and succesfull it has become over the years, but I don't consider myself a fan in any shape or form. I just dig this kind of movies. Lastly, scabab and justanaveragejoe, if by any chance this becomes another MCU vs DCEU wreck, or otherwise devolves in general insults and trolling, please nuke the thread with extreme prejudice, thank you. So, here we go. Iron Man - My all time favourite. It's a very good origins story that both stays faithful to the original and updates it for a contemporary audience. RDJ is a particularly inspired choice, but the cast in general is great. The balance between action, humour and drama is spot on. The villain is good. Not great, but not abysmal either and I like his motivations. I dig the humour since is not overdone and more often than not has to do with Tony's personality. The only downside for me is Terrence Howard because he's one of those actors that I can't stand to watch. The Incredible Hulk - A very forgettable movie. I like the cast and while I can't stand Norton, I admit that he's a very good actor. I liked Liv Tyler better when she had natural lips. The flick is not bad, just the epitome of meh. Iron Man II - On paper a solid movie. I like the premise that Tony is being poisoned by the same device that keeps him alive; I like both villains and their very personal reasons to hate and antagonize Tony and, again, overall a great cast. Unfortunately It's underwhelming. Vanko is a caricature and Rourke looks bored/annoyed; Rockwell is great as Hammer, but is underdeveloped and underused; Cheadle is better than Howard, but I can't buy him as a military pilot. Johansson is good but I would've preferred Blunt, because I think Emily is a better actress. Also I don't find Scarlett attractive. Lastly, I hate the two big coincidences: 1) Tony for some reason keeps all the armours with a handy power source so that Rhodey can steal one (not to mention that all the suits are taliored on Tony's body) and 2) Howard Stark knew that someday Tony would need to synthesize a new element and conveniently leaves the blue print on a scale model. As I said, not really a terrible movie, but I was expecting more after Iron Man. Thor - I keep forgetting the movie exists. I like the cast, even though some performances are subpar (yes, Portman, I'm looking at you) and the balance is again very good. Best thing: Loki. Worst thing: wasting Idris Elba on such an underdeveloped character as Heimdall. The First Avenger - OK, I still don't buy Chris Evans as Cap, even though I admit that he's doing a good job. The risk here was creating a propaganda character, but they managed to make Cap sympathetic to a wider audience and I applaud the result. I love the movie until the POW rescue (I'm a sucker for period pieces), then it goes downhill pretty quick. I would've liked to see more of Red Skull. The cast is very good and I loved both Stanley Tucci (a very underrated and dependable actor) and Tommy Lee Jones. Hayley Atwell was OK but I just don't like her. The Avengers - I don't like Joss Whedon and I think he's way overrated as a writer/director. To enjoy the movie you have to shut down your brain and go with the flow, but if you do it's a thrilling ride. It sounds like I hate it, but I like it despite all the flaws and while it could've been better, it's still a solid entry. Luckily I can appreciate a film for what it has to offer. Iron Man 3 - I strongly dislike this one. Shane Black is another overrated writer/director that does the same movie over and over again. Christmas? Chek. Buddies? Chek. Annoying kid? Check. Convoluted plot? Check. Really bad bad guys? Check. I get that RDJ wanted to step out of the armour, but, dude, you signed to play Iron Man, you have to wear the suit. Anyway, I hate that Tony is stuck with a crappy prototype just because; I hate the kid and I hate how they nerfed the armours. Iron Man withstood Vanko's whips, Thor's lighnings, got caught in a Helicarrier fan and now it melts like butter under the Extremis soldiers? I call plot device BS. I'm not bothered by the Mandarin fiasco, in fact I love Ben Kingsley's performance, but the rest of the movie is a huge letdown. And they didn't use AC/DC. FO Black. The Dark World - I really can't remember what Thor's movies are about... Not good, not bad, I dislike the final battle. This kind of silly humour doesen't fly with me. Maybe because I'd prefer a more serious Thor or I'm just an unfunny guy. Who knows? Anyway, a wasted opportunity. The Winter Soldier - I do appreciate that they did something different and took a more serious route, but It's a boring movie. It's the knd of movie that I don't rewatch often and usually just for the sake of continuity. On a technical level is very good though. Does it count for something? Guardians of the Galaxy - Nice movie, nice cast, nice effects, but the dance-off joke is a no-no. Sorry guys, but it takes me out of the entire confrontation. It just doesen't work for me. Not a bad movie, but I find it overrated. As much as I dislike him, I wonder if Whedon would've been a better choice... Age of Ultron - Wow, talk about a flawed movie... I must admit that after a few rewatches it gets a bit better and it's an important step in the MCU journey, but I would've liked something with more gravitas. I appreciate that they killed Quicksilver, but the emotional impact was zero. We hardly knew you Pietro, so no hard feelings, but who cares? The battle is quite spectacular, but the substance is very thin and Ultron should've been a more menacing threat. Meh. Ant-Man - An underrated, even if flawed, movie. I really enjoy this one. I dig the humour and I like the inherent silliness (fully embraced) of the whole concept. I still don't get the physics, but I can get over it. I love the cast (Evangeline Lilly is gorgeous with that haircut); really like the villain and his motivations; I like Cassie, and I usually hate the kids, and I love the heist angle. Civil War - Another overrated movie. I'm beginning to suspect that I don't like the Russos style... I like Zemo, but his plan is a bit flimsy and it requires too many coincidences. The airport fight is nice, Spider-Man is great, Vision is too powerful and the writers didn't know what to do with it/him. Loved Giant Man, indifferent to Black Panther. Basically I like more the subplots than the main plot. Best thing: both Tony and Steve are neither right nor wrong, so kudos for keeping it grey. Worst thing: Winter Soldier happens to kill the Starks near a conveniently placed surveillance camera in a time when surveillance wasn't the rage and then, after he's being filmed destroys the camera. Also, sorry guys, but he killed my mom is not that different from Martha... Doctor Strange - A really cold movie devoid of emotions. It's sleek, stylish and well acted, but I get nothing from it. I would've swapped Ejiofor's and Mikkelsen's roles. I'm indifferent to the Ancient One and Tilda Swinton was serviceable even if underused. Rachel McAdams is underused as well and overall it's a style over substance movie. Best thing: the way Strange trapped Dormammu is pretty clever. Worst thing: Mikkelsen is wasted. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol II - The first time I didn't like it. The second time I warmed up to it. The third time was the charm ad I liked the main themes of family, relationships, ties and longing. Disguised under the humour there's actually a pretty deep movie with more mature themes than one may suspect. Alas, Gunn tried too hard with the jokes and not only they feel forced, but I don't like them to boot. I hate to sound like a certain user of this board, but sensitive nipples, turds and penis jokes are not my kind of humour. At least, not in this kind of movie. If not for those, it would've been one of the best MCU movies, but those jokes really ruin it for me. What a shame. Homecoming - I'm not in the target audience, so I didn't like it. I liked Holland better in Civil War, I loved Micheal Keaton and I was really happy to see Marisa Tomei (I'm not against a younger and sexy May, quite the contrary in fact). I constantly looked at the watch and my mind kept wandering off, so... Also I'm a purist, so I'm against the new MJ. Ragnarok - Man, I hate this boring mess. The only thing that I liked is Cate Blanchett, but I like her in every movie, so there's that. Everything else sucked big time and the humour was horrid. Instead of laughing I kept telling myself no they didn't... Taika Waititi is definitely not my kind of director and I will never watch again a movie made by this ha... erm, guy. As I said I'm a purist, so I really disliked Walkyrie and the tiny Thompson didn't bring anything special to the role, but then I really dislike her smug face (I hated her in Creed too), so there's also that. And then why not: Black Panther - I was fairly indifferent, but the whole political mess and SJW crazyness is putting me off. I'll wait to see it online. Infinity War - I'm really curious but I'm keeping my expectations low since I don't really like the Russos, as established earlier. Probably should've been made a little earlier, I kinda feel that 10 years to get to this point are a tad too much. Ant-Man and the Wasp - Can't wait! Again I'm keeping my expectations low (because that's what I do in general), but I have a good feeling about this one. Probably it will be flawed as the first, but I don't care. Captain Marvel - Bummer, I don't like Brie Larson, but at least she can act. Judging from the pictures she didn't bother to get in shape and probably Emily Blunt would've been a better choice, since she showed that she's up to it and acting wise she's not a slouch either, but it is what it is. I'm afraid that social issues crazyness will ruin my mood again...

Judging from the pictures she didn't bother to get in shape and probably Emily Blunt would've been a better choice, since she showed that she's up to it and acting wise she's not a slouch either, but it is what it is. I'm afraid that social issues crazyness will ruin my mood again... I do agree with some of what you said about mcu movies and yeah, the dance offs. omg. you cant forgive that. I think you should still see Black Panther. the movie is the victim. the movie is not the problem. we do need more black heroes but I wish it had been done differently in 2018. Marvel should have sold BP to Paramount.

Lastly, scabab and justanaveragejoe , if by any chance this becomes another MCU vs DCEU wreck, or otherwise devolves in general insults and trolling, please nuke the thread with extreme prejudice, thank you. Mrvel should have sold BP to Paremount. Why Paramount, may I ask?
And what would Paramount have done with it?

Saying you are not the target audience of homecoming is painful because its proof the movie was made in the same vein as Hannah Montana, its made for children.
we are not the target audience, you are saying the truth and its painful since the earlier spiderman movies was not made for children at the core.

Huh? How would that have changed anything? The way people are reacting to the movie has nothing to do with it being a MCU movie.

Huh? How would that have changed anything? The way people are reacting to the movie has nothing to do with it being a MCU movie. Well, that's not true since we know MCU movies are over praised already then add that to the divided political climate america is in and the SJW and its a free fall. I remember Dr Strange, they told me it was better than Inception. LMAO. BP made by paramount by jj abrams (star trek 09) not (star wars 7). could have been something special.

So what? Spider-Man was highly popular among children to begin with.
I mean, 'Spider-Man 2' is actually rated PG in the U.K.!

Does summers8 forget that Paramount is responsible for the Transformers franchise?

I think you should still see Black Panther. the movie is the victim. the movie is not the problem. we do need more black heroes but I wish it had been done differently in 2018. In time I will. Right now I'd feel like I was buying into all the crazyness and I wouldn't enjoy the experience. I don't know I need more black heroes. My Country's history is quite different from USA's and after WWII we kind had a live and let live attitude towards other ethnicities (we reserve our hate for our own people), so I don't feel no guilt, no remorse and I don't believe I have to (over)compensate for anything, despite our liberals are trying their best to guilt trip us because Politically Correct is the rage right now. Plus, we are just starting right now to have a multiethnical society (and it's already painful enough for everybody involved), so I can't possibly understand under-representation in media and such.

LMAO. It is. Inception wasn't that good to begin with, it's just Nolan's usual fluff where people act like morons without thinking of the consequences and the movie ends up being more about an idea than characters we could care about. And even then the characters in the movie are really more just archetypes than real characters. Dr Strange was much more inventive and intelligent. Especially the way he stopped the villain.

You really make yourself lose credibility when you say Dr Strange is better than inception. I mean wtf. One is an innovative sci fi original classic with practical effects the other is a MCU production line filler with CGI bleeding out the ears. Dr Strange is not more intelligent, its more banal.
