The Ultimate Warrior (1975) Written and directed by Robert Clouse (Enter the Dragon). A gritty, no-frills foray into a post-apocalyptic New York wasteland besieged by gang wars and small communities trying to survive. Yul Brynner in fighter-for-hire mode takes on a rival leader; William Smith. An imposing, and snarling performance by the latter. Too bad about his character’s less than imposing name (Carrot) though.

Robert Patrick and Fred Ward in a fairly lacklustre jungle adventure. Skip to 5:30 mark to see the trailer for Forbidden City: The Vivero Letter.

LICENSE TO KILL 1989 - Some good action scenes although the dramatics were kind of uneven. Bond seems unhinged in the first half--while Bouvier is presented as a competent CIA agent who can give him advice on what gun to have in a bar fight (a ridiculous moment)--but then in the second half she seemed to be used as comedy relief especially when Q and Wayne Newton show up.

Man on Fire (1987) Pretty much in the minority that prefers this version over the Tony Scott and Denzel Washington 2004 film. Way slower, low-key with a muddled ending, but I felt more invested in the characters and story.
