Now in 2018 superhero movies are looked down upon and Zoe is mad, Zoe, you need to realise , people now look down on superhero movies because marvel movies destroyed the genre, as I keep saying no one looked down on comic films during X2 or TDK. It was a good time then because this movies were taken seriously and showed comic books can also be good dramas and can have story telling that rivals indie movies. Logan and Spiderman 2 alone have some of the best character study take on the main characters alone. That been said,its nice to see more marvel actors fighting back against what they see as marvel haters when in reality, people are just worried about the integrity of movies.

There weren't enough of them back then, no one cared. No, they still weren't significant enough. No, just now they're significant enough to threaten the artsy-fartsy types. No, it's because they're a proper genre unto themselves, unlike before when they were fringe. No one cared about the FoX-Men movies enough, and no one dared to criticize TDK due to Heath Ledger dying. Not really, SM2 was riddled with stupid and Logan got an easy time because no one wanted to criticize Jackmans' Swan Song. Nah, it's just envious people who can't get into the genre. |

Looked down upon....yet they usually get great reviews. Of the eight Superhero movies to release since 2017, six of them have got over a 90% from critics and one of the two others still got a 83%.
Compared to the many superhero movies that came out from 2000-2008, they get much higher praise now than they did before when you had duds like Daredevil, Hulk, Ghost Rider, Elektra, Catwoman, Fantastic Four, Superman Returns and Blade 3.

Actually, superhero movies have been looked down on for decades. Yeah, you got the ones people liked. But superhero movies have always been looked at as brain dead schlock from the elite actors. There has always been a section of Hollywood that sees comic book movies as something you do when you can't make the smart dramas. Why do you think Jack Nicholson made so much money for Batman and was the lead on the movie? Regular sci-fi movies were even looked down on unless it was high drama.
The funny part is that you now have actors wanting to be in these movies just to have their names attached to them.

If you never encountered him on there before basically DerekPowers went after almost any major studio release and its fans and would often use very politically incorrect words to either describe or attack them. He would also pull crap out of his rear end in attempt to rile people up. Of the topics I remember him making was for the first Iron Man before it came out where he asked, "Is this movie made for retards or intelligent people? As in, is this movie made for smart and sophisticated film goers( people who like X-2, Spider-Man 2, Harry Potter, LOTR) or retards( people who like Transformers, The Day After Tomorrow, National Treasure, and Independence Day)? Anyone know, I don't want to support the dumb-pocalypse but I need something to watch" (Yeah, they literally wrote that). I guess he is Derek, its been ten years so he's had enough time to "evolve" a bit as a troll. |

Or even the reverse: Recently there was a movie called Ladybird, you might have heard of it. Got a lot of nominations including Best Picture, and best of all a 100% or 99% score on Rotten Tomatoes. While everyone and their mother was screaming at the top of their lungs how great Thor Ragnarok was because it got a 90whatever% on RT (I don't remember exactly, sue me), no one gave a damn that Ladybird got a higher number.
If the high RT score was so almighty then you would think it would convince people to go see that movie, no? NO> Only when it's put on a Marvel movie.

Thor Ragnarok is a part of a 10 year long investment for the audiences. And what is that based on? And why did Justice League not get the benefit of the doubt? The movies get good reviews and by no coincidence they get good user scores because they're good movies. They're summer blockbusters, they're just meant to entertain more than anything. They're not called bad movies, not by any majority anyway. Logan and The Dark Knight escaped that criticism because they are simply much better movies. Just because the MCU movies aren't as good as those two doesn't mean they aren't good. What bias? You just said that The Dark Knight didn't have the criticism that the MCU movies had. Both Wonder Woman and Logan got better reviews than any MCU movie last year. |

He doesn't even pretend to be unbiased and doesn't even put effort into his trolling (unlike DC Fan who at least can be quite amusing). I mean, I understand that some people will say negative stuff about movies in boards, that's normal. But I don't recall this guy ever contributing anything useful in this board other that to trashtalk MCU and just create a whole lot of unnecessary noise.
