There have been some really good adaptations. I'd say most have been pretty good. Some real bad ones of course. 'The Running Man' needs another adaptation as the film wasn't anything like the novella at all. I’d wonder if they’d have the guts to stick to the novel ending of the running man. It’s very bleak and 9-11 esque. I thought 9/11 also. Guess kind of hard not to with the hijacked plane deliberately crashed in to a building. If they do adapt another 'Running Man' they should keep as close to the source material as possible.

I'd give him another season. He did what he was brought in to do. Everton looking at a respectable finish. It has been a bad season for us because the optimism at the start was so high. Even so my prediction was a seventh place finish. Worst case scenario now is 9th? Another season maybe out of respect. If it doesn't work out so be it.

The book was great. I don't know how they can film it without it just being another run-of-the-mill Stephen King adaptation. There have been some really good adaptations. I'd say most have been pretty good. Some real bad ones of course. 'The Running Man' needs another adaptation as the film wasn't anything like the novella at all.

Graveyard Shift as a film really had to invent most of its story, so I wouldn't be surprised if they did do it, claimed that it would be 'closer to the book' and still just invented a completely new story, since there really wasn't much there to begin with. I haven't read The Long Walk, but from the synopsis, it sounds like it probably heavily influence The Hunger Games, and the movie will be called a Hunger Games rip off by its fans. 'Hunger Games' seemed more of 'The Most Dangerous Game'.

Next thing you know, they'll remake GRAVEYARD SHIFT. Give it time.

Could have been way back in the 80's I last watched. When people mention horror anthologies this one popped in to mind for me all the time. Cut a not so long story short I re-watched and thought not good at all.

"Louis, sometimes dead is better. The Indians knew that. They stopped using that burial ground when the ground went sour. Don't think about doing it, Louis. The place gets holier, but the place... is evil."
Who on Earth could replace Fred Gwynne saying that? Maybe Sam Elliot or Jeff Bridges. I think Morgan Freeman might be a good choice for Jud Crandall.

Can't they just leave well enough alone? All these remakes are gash. Nah, I think it's worth another go. One of his best books and deserves something better. The worst case scenario if it is bad you still have the other one to watch and the book to read. I'm thankful it ain't a sequel to the sequel.

I wouldn't class this as a remake myself. My guess is that they're basing this movie directly on Stephen King's novel rather than Mary Lambert's film. I'm glad they're having another go at it because I didn't think the '89 movie did the book justice in all honesty. It was ok but nothing special. I'd like to see another adaptation. Some talented people out there that could really make it good as we've seen in other Stephen King adaptations.

Seems like something of nothing to me. Bit of banter. Might be more to it. Four men have been summonsed to appear in court after England rugby union coach Eddie Jones was verbally abused at a railway station in Manchester.
Jones, 58, received foul-mouthed taunts at Manchester Oxford Road station on 25 February, the day after Scotland beat England 25-13 in the Six Nations.www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-manchester-43794700youtu.be/zODhOmqnjhA

Cool bit of trivia: Composer Harry Manfredini has said that contrary to popular belief, the famous "Chi, chi, chi; ha, ha, ha" in the film's score is actually "Ki, ki, ki; ma, ma, ma". It is meant to resemble Jason's voice saying "Kill, kill, kill; mom, mom, mom" in Mrs. Voorhees's mind. It was inspired by the scene in which Pamela Voorhees suffers from schizophrenia and chants, "Get her, mommy! Kill her!" Manfredini created the effect by speaking the syllables "ki" and "ma" into a microphone running through a delay effect. I'd always heard that same explanation but that he was saying, "Kill her." It's cool that something that at the time might have been so simple and they really didn't know it then has now become something so iconic.

Who on Earth could replace Fred Gwynne saying that? Maybe Sam Elliot or Jeff Bridges. Fred Gywnne playing Jud might be the best casting in any Stephen King book to film adaptation. As for the remake I'd love to see one. On a side note, is it really a remake when the source material is a novel? Doesn't really matter but some folk really don't like remakes.

I was going to put on the movie but I saw July has a Friday the 13th so I figured it a more fitting time. Summer and the heat and humidity and bugs. Better atmosphere. At the moment April too darn cold.

More important game on Tuesday. They've won the title. Not today perhaps. It'd be fantastic for them to win it at home against Man U but you can't have everything. Conceding 6 goals in the last two games worrying. They concede one away goal against Liverpool on Tuesday and that is game over.

No thread for this yet? What's wrong with you people? And yet you'll make a thread for the Wales women's team or Local-Pub-Team United. Crazy bastards. Away win. 1 - 3 What do you mean by 'You people'?

Fair result. I suppose if anyone deserved to win in the last few minutes it would have been Everton.

Hopefully the ref won't be card happy. I'm going for a scrappy 2-1 for Everton. We haven't won a derby in 8 years so we have to win one at some point. Neither side really needs the win. We are safe and Liverpool just about guaranteed a top 4 finish. Plus Liverpool have their eyes on a bigger prize and the CL match on Tuesday. Up 3 nil but if any team can overcome that deficit it is Man City at home.
