Yeah. I like Manu's Deathstroke too. Out of all the villains they have had in the 'Arrowverse' so far I think he was the best and it is a shame Warner Bros blocked 'Arrow' from using him just when they brought him back in the show. I won't say too much 'cause I don't want to spoil it for you but Deathstroke returns in Season 6 and he was supposed to have a big role and Warner Bros pulled him. I think they were worried the DCEU version won't be as good as Manu's version. Really? That seriously sucks big time. I am halfway through Season Six now. Deathstroke is far and away the best character on the show. The episode with him and Oliver overseas was pure gold. Honestly, if they made an Arrow and Deathstroke show with them completed missions around the world it would be better than all of the other DC Shows combined. Oh well. Yes. Sadly Warner Bros blocked them from using Deathstroke and they had to rewrite the show. I personally think Warner Bros' interference in 'Arrow' has been annoying and they shouldn't be allowed to stop them from using characters like Deathstroke, Deadshot, Amanda Waller, Katana and Harley Quinn when they were already in the show. I mean it would be different if they were asking to use characters they have never used before but when it is a character like Deathstroke/ Slade Wilson who has been in 'Arrow' since Season One they shouldn't have the power to block them 'cause they agreed to let the writers use the characters. Warner Bros blocking characters has always been a problem for DC TV shows and 'Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman' was the perfect show to have a lot of Superman villains appear but Warner Bros blocked them from using a lot of them and they couldn't even use General Zod and had to come up with a Lord Noir. With the AT&T ready to buy out Time Warner and make major changes to the company I hope the first thing that is changed is all the blocks on characters are removed.

The biggest hindrance to DC in film and television is Warner Bros. Yes. It is. Hopefully AT&T change that. They have the power to reshape the entire landscape and put the DCEU in the hands of new people who can make the movies better and if 'Aquaman' and 'Shazam' flop I can see AT&T stepping in especially with them saying they have plans of their own with DC and want to make DC TV shows for HBO.

I forgot AT&T is trying to buy Warner Bros. Just it got overshadowed by Disney's bid for 20th Century Fox. That has me excited because it means we can finally get a good Fantastic Four movie, set where it always be. In the heart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I heard about that too and I am surprised it is taking so long for Disney to buy out Fox 'cause I thought we were still on the old 'Arrow' IMDB boards when they first announced they were going to buy Fox out. It looks Donald Trump didn't keep his word about AT&T though which isn't surprising and I don't know if you remember but during the lead up to your election he said if he become President he would block AT&T from buying Time Warner and now he is not saying a word.

Well they had to wait for antitrust investigation by the government and there is a rival bid from Comcast. The investigation is done and Disney outbid Comcast. Now all we have to do is wait for Fox to vote.

Now all we have to do is wait for Fox to vote. I didn't know about that but it appears there might be another holdup with Disney buying Fox now 'cause it was on the news one of the people who owns shares in Fox is suing to stop Disney from buying the company out and I don't know many details about it but here is an article I found that you might find interesting. Hopefully they will be able to get around it or this could go on for a while. It is interesting to note nobody at Time Warner is trying to prevent AT&T from buying them out and it looks like they are happy to have AT&T take over. Yeah, this is not surprising. Fox is not known for making good decisions, so this seems to be more of that.

Yeah, this is not surprising. Fox is not known for making good decisions, so this seems to be more of that. Well, I think they had to be at some point 'cause Fox has had a lot of successful movies and TV shows over the years and while you know I wasn't a fan of the 'Titanic' movie it was the most successful movie in Box Office history and that was under Fox. If they didn't make good decisions they wouldn't have lasted this long but I agree with you about some of their decisions as of late and they seem to have gone downhill. When do you think that started and did it have to do with a change of management?

I would credit Fox with the success of 'Titanic'. All they did was market and release the movie, the actual making of it was James Cameron.
Fox is like most studios. Only successful when they have a hands off approach and let the directors have total control. Sony's 'Spider-Man 3' and the two Amazing Spider-Man films are prime examples of what happens when the studio takes charage and the director becomes an unwilling puppet.

Sony ruined the original 'Spider-Man' franchise by putting too much pressure on Sam Rami to complete the script for 'Spider-Man 4' by a certain date and refused to give him the additional time he wanted to go over it to make sure it didn't make the same mistakes as 'Spider-Man 3' made and that lead to Sam Rami and the actors quitting the movies and the franchise having to be rebooted. Sony tries to cover it up now but I remember it being all over a lot of magazines and newspapers here when Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst dropped out of 'Spider-Man 4' after Sam Rami quit and they were supposed to have 6 'Spider-Man' movies and 4 was going to have the Vulture and Black Cat and according to an interview I read with Sam Rami 5 was going to have Mysterio and they ruined our chances of getting that. I wasn't a fan of 'The Amazing Spider-Man' movies but I did hear there was studio interference in the second movie and while I wasn't a big fan of 'Homecoming' either I am hoping we don't see another reboot. Speaking of James Cameron and Spider-Man did you know he was making a 'Spider-Man' movie in the 90s and it didn't go through? Some details have emerged and apparently Peter was portrayed as a pervert who used his powers to spy on women getting undressed and showering so it is best it didn't go through.

Wasn't the idea or organic web shooting adopted from Cameron's script into the Raimi films? Also I don't know if Raimi's films would have held up if they kept going, personally they have lost a LOT of their magic from back then, imo atleast. TASM 2 definitely had studio meddling but at the same point just how much can you blame them, sure they insisted on the inclusion of the world building seeds for sequels and spin off's to be put in but it's not like the film only fails for that reason, it's all shit throughout, I am with you Deb no new Spidey please, unless the reboot it with Miles as Spidey, that's a nice compromise to do a new series but without rehashing the exact same story over just replacing the villain, though I did like Homecoming, but also I really like Holland as Spidey, he's my fav one so far so I want him to stay Peter for a long while, but I also want Miles...OH THE HUMANITY, Torn between my love for one and desire for the other what is a fan to do I ask you...what is a man to do? *weeps*

That is a good question Dazz. I know in the comic books Peter created mechanical web-shooters and a lot of fans were against using organic web shooting ‘cause they believed it took away from the intelligence of the character but I seem to recall Spider-Man actually saying he had organic web shooting at one stage but he stopped using it ‘cause it freaked people out but I am unsure what decade that happened in and it may have pre-dated James Cameron’s scrapped movie. Then there is also the fact there were a number of Spider-Man like superheroes that came out before Spider-Man who had web slinging, shoot webs that could catch villains and the ability to climb up walls so it may have come from one of them first. I am not sure but it is surprising how many superheroes there are that pre-date Spider-Man that have the same abilities and Stan Lee admitted the Spider was one of the main inspirations for Spider-Man.
Had we gotten the original 6 movies Sam Rami was originally planning on making I think there was a good chance they could have turned out to be better than ‘Spider-Man 3’ ‘cause Sam recognised the mistakes he made in the previous movie (which is something some filmmakers don’t) and wanted to spend more time on the script for ‘Spider-Man 4’ movie to make sure it was perfect before filming it and Tobey and Kirsten supported that and I feel he should have been given another chance and Sony was just rushing to get it out and screwed everything up. If the movie had gone on to flop Sony could have fired him and moved on to ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ movies but it could have been a huge hit and continued on with another two great movies. It is too late now though and I think they should definitely stay with the current franchise they have got 'cause it would do more damage to reboot the character but I think they need to do more to have him stand on his own instead of always being with Iron Man 'cause Spider-Man is a superhero that stood on his own for a long time and doesn't need to live in the shadow of another hero. If there is one really big mistake I feel the MCU made with Spider-Man it was not establishing him as his own hero separately before putting him with other heroes.

See I don't think it was a mistake so much it was a problem, kind of hard 8 -9 years into a universe to introduce Spidey as a leader when he's also meant to be a kid, in the comics Spidey and most of the big marvel names came out around the same time give or take a year or 2 except for Cap, so he's been around as long as them in most if not all iterations, but in the MCU he's literally grown up with these guys being around and wanting to be one of them, you cant have him come in and act like their equal or better without making him seem like a dick, but and this maybe just me I think if you exclude Cap & Tony Peter is more classic Spidey than people give him credit for, he doesn't show the same admiration to Bucky, Falcon, Strange or the GOTG with them he's quippy and a smart arse as we would expect.
Also I feel like Marvel had to do it this way because their deal only covers A4 and S:FFH now, and Sony could refuse to let them keep using him past that, so they couldn't make Spidey this larger than everyone else character in their universe if Sony were just going to take him back, which is why I think they positioned it as they did, if Sony take him back ok we lose Spidey but they didn't undermine their entire roster whilst they had him to have him, if he sticks around they can make him the Spiderman we all love, not everything needs to be as it was at the start, I like he has to grow as Spider-Man still.
Personally the Rami films aren't that special now in hindsight, the stories aren't that good, characters are not likeable, acting is shit a lot of the time, it's just that we were still coming off of the era of Schumachers Batman, Steel, The Crow sequels, made for TV movies, and still getting the likes of Daredevil, Elektra, Hulk, F4, Catwoman, Blade Trinity, and stuff, we hadn't hit where CBM's were more than cash cows like we have now, I mean honestly the bad stuff we have now is so much better than the mediocre crap we got then, plus I don't think I could have handled seeing a middle aged Peter Parker/Spider-Man still being a nutless pussy, also I got tired of the woe is Peter and moody MJ by 3 movies, put me through anymore of that shit and I would have turned on Spidey as a character.

I'm with Dazz; and I would add, I think it can be said that a lot of the MCU has drawn from the Ultimate line of comics, at least to a limited degree. Thankfully Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver seem to be an exception. But Peter was much younger than the other heroes in the Ultimate comics; and I think it's supposed to hearken back to his earliest appearances in the main-line comics where he was either a high school student or college students. Of course all of the movies have done this as well, but it's only recently that they've cast someone who was actually high school aged and looked the part.
I never particularly cared for Tobey as Spider-man. I remember being in high school when it was announced he'd be cast in the role, and was rather disappointed (maybe partly because I wasn't considered, even if I hadn't auditioned or lived anywhere near places where such things occur...) I mean, he was fine in other stuff I saw him in, I just didn't think he had the right look or presence. I may have been biased slightly too having grown up watching the 90s animated series, which was pretty much the extent of my knowledge about Spider-man at the time. Even still, the first outing was okay, it was a good movie; especially for what there was of superhero movies at the time, but as time went on each movie got progressively worse.
The first reboot was okay, but I never did get around to watching that sequel. Everything I'd heard about it made me okay with not watching it.
Re: the organic vs mechanical webshooters, I do believe at some point in the main continuity Peter did develop organic webshooters. I'm not as well versed on Marvel as I am on DC, but if memory serves the movie may have done it first and the comics tried incorporating it as some sort of 'second mutation' or some such thing; and may have also entailed some larger story that wasn't particularly well received - possibly the one where they try to retcon his powers as more mystical and that he was a spider totem, I think. I think this was later undone, maybe by the after effects of One More Day.

Yeah. You have a point but I still think it was a mistake not to establish him as his own character first before putting him with other superheroes and with the MCEU they did that with Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and even Ant Man before putting them with all the other superheroes but they chose to debut Spider-Man in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and had him tied to Iron Man and then had Iron Man play a part in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ too. I think Peter Parker should have become Spider-Man on his own and garnered up a reputation for defeating other villains and when they finally had him meet the other superheroes he would have been established and experienced. One of the main complaints about Spider-Man in the MCU has been his relationship with Iron Man and Iron Man giving him things instead of Peter making them himself and I agree with some of the criticism.
While I wouldn’t go as far to say he feels like an Iron Man sidekick like some others have said Spider-Man in the MCU does feel like a hero that couldn’t operate on his own ‘cause they have made Peter seem very reliant on Tony Stark and I think he needs to fight his own battles, make his own mistakes and do his own thing like Spider-Man did in the comic books. It also feels like ‘cause the writers have integrated Spider-Man so deeply into the MCU they haven’t really established a ‘Spiderverse’ at this point and while a big part of that can be blamed on Sony since they are developing their own Spider-verse without Peter Parker in it if they ever merge the two and have Peter interact with all the other characters it is going to look weird ‘cause he won’t have any history with them unless they say that it took place off screen.
Warner Bros made the same mistake recently with Batman not making a solo Batman movie before putting him with Superman and other super-powered heroes and now we have Batgirl, Birds of Prey and Nightwing on the way we are left with a ton of questions regarding why they weren’t mentioned or seen in ‘Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice’ and the question of what happened to Jason Todd and all of those things could have been answered and more if they had made only ‘The Batman’ the second movie in the DCEU after ‘Man of Steel’ if they hadn’t rushed ahead putting Batman together with Superman so early but the DCEU has been very rushed with all its superheroes and they rushed Superman too not even showing him starting out at the Daily Planet. We Spider-Man we are yet to see him interact with a lot of other Spiderverse characters like Mary Jane.
I don’t think Sony will take Spider-Man back from Marvel unless ‘Far From Home’ turns out to be this massive disaster that doesn’t even make $10 million at the Box Office but I can see them wanting to put him with their Spiderverse characters if they are successful and it already looks odd having a solo ‘Venom’ movie before Venom was with Spider-Man. You are right about comic book movies coming a long way in the last decade but I still prefer 'The Crow' over all of them and I liked the 'Arkham' games over all the Batman movies 'cause they did something none of the Batman movies have been able to do which is give us a Batman who is the World's Greatest Detective who worked alongside the GCPD and not a vigilante on the run from the law and we also got Dick Grayson, Barbara Gordon, Tim Drake, Jason Todd and Kate Kane in them.

Don't forget. Spider Woman was originally a spider in a human body to begin with before they changed the backstory and made Jessica Drew a person who gained spider powers after being experimented on. It is not hard to see why that was re-written 'cause a spider in a human body would be very weird and I don't think I would trust them not to try and bite me.

Well they kind of did Peter was already Spiderman, he had already created the web fluid his own web shooters and stuff, they just made it smart where HS Peter cant some how afford all the high end expensive stuff so his gear is amateur looking, his actions as Spider-Man are well known enough in CW for him to be the first on Tony's mind to recruit for the team, and in Homecoming the point is Peter doesn't need all the gizmo's his powers and his tools are enough to stop Vulture, he actually fails by relying on the suit, but succeeds when he relies on himself, and when he's acting as a hero to get something, respect, a spot on the Avengers or Tony's approval he fails, trying to prove himself results in mistakes, it's when he does the right thing because he just has to because it's who he is that's when he pulls it off, when you think of it like that the movie is telling you Spider-Man doesn't need anything that isn't his own, and when he does the right thing he does it the right way.
I don't think theres any harm in the spidey verse of things with how he is used in the MCU, so far he's tangled with Vulture, Shocker, Scorpion and Prowler, they just purposely didn't use any of the already used villains in Homecoming because why only use Green Goblin? this would be a problem if the next movie after FFH was meant to be a sinister 6 film featuring Goblin, Doc Oc, Kraven, Rhino, Sandman & Electro but it likely isn't, if it were going to be a S6 film it would likely be Vulture, Shocker, Scorpion, Mysterio & another flunky plus a big bad who brings them together, and even if they say oh this guy Spidey fought before here, is like ok then, they only get 3 stand alone movies theres no way to do a S6 film in that time without either having a bloated villain presence in the first 2 films or saying nah this happened off screen, Sony stand alone universe is different, they need to keep making these films and Spidey is the big draw for them so they could do 6 Spidey films over a decade to build to a S6 film, but Marvel A: only had him for 5 films to begin with, and B: have a lot of other just as lucrative characters they need to market also.
As for the Sony deal, it all depends, Marvel could be like ok we'll have him for our Avengers films, and we'll produce another 4 Spidey films for you, it'll all be in the MCU, but you cannot make anymore spiderverse films, and Tom Holland is off the table for any muture non-MCU related roles as Spider-man, where Sony maybe like no you get 1 more Avenger movie, we'll negotiate Spidey films as they come, and we get to do what we want with the other characters and no stipulations on Holland, or Sony could be like we want more of a say in the films and Disney like fuck you you get less say, we just never know, and that's not taking into account stuff like MArvel demanding they get this rights back or that rights back, or Sony being like no we want control to make a Spidey or Spideyverse live action TV show, we want all restrictions removed from who can be Spidey or what Spiday can be, so if we want a transgender muslim dwarf Spider-man by god we can do it, and MArvel just being like no go fuck yourself.
