"There is still hope." - Arwen, LotR I loved the 2009 "Reboot" The cast was perfect, the story was fun. It was a creative way to reboot it with it making sense (alternate timeline). However, I want them to get back to the original allegory Gene Roddenberry made with the original TV series about humanity coming together as one and facing a common goal/objective. As opposed to Fast and Furious in Space. I would love to see how this alternate timeline affects TNG cast. See, there are limitless possibilities here, you could do a movie version of TNG, Voyager, Deep Space Nine and have them all overlap like a shared universe. The effects of Spock/Nero and the black hole creating an alternate time line now affects the other generations...

I'm psyched. I'm hoping Justin Lin returns to direct. And I just can't wait to hear Michael Giacchino's score again. It'll be interesting to see how they will give Chekov the full sendoff like they did for Leonard Nimoy in Beyond. And more George Kirk! Yay! This is gonna be great!

I always want more trek. I really enjoyed Beyond and would love to see another movie in the reboot series. Preferably one with a villain that wants something other than revenge.

Revenge seems to be a common theme in these films. Nero wanted it, Khan wanted it (as well as starting a one man war), Krall wanted it as well, and Spock wanted revenge on a few occasions in the reboot films. See where I'm going with this?

"There is still hope." - Arwen, LotR Absolutely, very excited--The first half of Star Trek Beyond was fantastic, and I loved the two prior films--Bring it on!

I enjoyed the series overall, but the last movie was my least favorite. It was just okay.
They need to get away from the humanoid bad guys who want revenge at all costs. Time for a new type of villain.

Time for a new type of villain.I liked Beyond quite a bit despite its flawed pacing and other issues, but I agree it's time for a new direction in terms of the crew's main antagonist/obstacle. I'm thrilled at the prospect of a fourth movie overall, though. Is this just speculation, or is it actually a confirmed project? I hope the latter.

It's actually confirmed. Hope this helps Yes, as it was an assertion of value rather than an ad hominem attack out of nowehere. Thanks for telling us.

From what I understand, as far as confirmation goes, they have outright said that they want Chris Hemsworth back and it sounds like the whole cast are excited to return. Also, they have confirmed they will NOT recast Chekov following STB. Not as solid as a potential release date being pegged on IMDB/etc., though I would say it sounds incredibly promising.

It might be fun, but it's no longer a franchise I care much about. The reboot is too shallow, nothing more than almost generic action movies whose only allure lies on a cult following of something that used to be good.

Today's tv series have to be better quality in order to survive. Trek had a ton of ups and downs.

Beyond is my favorite of the three, so I'm hoping to at least get one more.
