There's a rat in my kitchen and I don't know what to do. Set out a rat trap baited with peanut butter. I got a rat trap from woolies for 5 bucks and it didn't work, Bat. It seems that there is some secret passage between the walls and above cupboard as the rat hides somewhere there. I baited the rat with cheese. The bloody rat ate the cheese but the trap didn't work. This little thing has completely disturbed me as the kitchen now has a smell of rat. I don't even cook at the moment. There is one option of using those rat killer chewable things but what happens if it dies somewhere I can't reach?

I have one of those simple wooden traps like a BIG Mouse trap. PEANUT BUTTER is the way to go. IF you use cheese … tie it onto the little metal tab with dental floss. Their teeth get caught in it and WHAM ! With the poisons .. if they die inside the wall...they smell until they rot away. yeah, YUCK !
SO Aj_June ... other than your furry, fuzzy visitor, how's things ?

Aj_June Hey ! Did the PB Trap work ? Thought of your critter today while cleaning the broken crockery up after a racoon pushed pots off of the shelf in the shed... Hi Bat!
The trap had failed. The rat is of considerable size. So day before yesterday I threw Rat Kill Throwpacks. It said it might work in 3 or 4 days. It has been terrible situation as I have not used my kitchen except for using freeze for last 5 or 6 days. Hope the throwpacks will work.

Aj_JuneFor what it's worth … really no reason to not use the kitchen.. especially in day or when you have the lights on. Mice, rats etc are more wanting to avoid you than you are wanting to avoid them. I get mice invasions in the fall and see them scurrying across the doorway in the TV room and know it's time to set the traps. Good luck ! Keep us posted on the hunt !
