Personally, once I look at my phone, my attention to anything else goes out the window. I'm a one thing at a time kinda guy, so my phone always goes face down when I put a movie on.

Not only I turn it off, if I see someone else using it, I go to ask them to turn it off too.

Why would anyone use their phone while watching a movie?

Sometimes I turn it off, sometimes I don't.

But what if watching a movie on your phone? How does that work? I can't conceive of a scenario where I would willingly do this, unless I was being imprisoned and found a smartphone duct taped behind the toilet or something.

Why would anyone use their phone while watching a movie? Have you not been to a cinema this decade? Many people do. Why? I guess because they are morons with short attention spans and they're addicted to their stupid social medias.

...since I don't own a cell phone, there is nothing to shut off. I need a cell phone like I need another hole in my head. They are the bane of mankind...

Not only I turn it off, if I see someone else using it, I go to ask them to turn it off too. That good. Have you ever seen a female that's with her boyfriend and asked her to turn it off, then her boyfriend gets mad and then tried to punch you and then you had to defend yourself? Because if so that would suck.

Yes, and nothing pisses me off more than when I'm showing a movie to a friend or family member and they sit on their phone the whole time.
I showed my friend Blade Runner 2049 and he sat on his phone most of the time and then said he didn't like it all that much because the story made no sense. No shit; the movie's not going to make sense when you didn't pay attention.
The same thing happened with my brother and The Shining. He sat on his phone, then asked question after question and once the movie finally ended he said he didn't like it because it was too rushed and unrealistic. That's why I rarely show people movies anymore unless it's in an actual theater setting.
