What's this doing on RFS? I'll explain:
Do you care what they do? I for one, strongly can't get over how ridiculous that whole clan is, how they flaunt their dysfunction and their wealth, how they have people following them, and I still cannot for the life of me figure out why they are so famous and popular. But obviously, they are, and there's a market. But, it doesn't affect my life (other than the fact that I am irritated by the debacle).
So, the same question comes up: Why do the (just using this example) the "non-Kardashians" care so much about what other people are doing if it doesn't involve them, doesn't affect their life, doesn't represent their life or affect how they live their life or spend their money or express themselves?
This is an attempt to make a correlation just for the sake of discussion. I still have mixed emotions, but it occurred to me that when I read about people bitching about other people's beliefs or their lifestyles and who they want to marry,....what does it have to do with you (any more than what the Kardashians have to do with the rest of the world who may disagree with what makes them 'them,' but.....has absolutely nothing to do with us).

I think the Kardashian clan reflects most everything that secular society should be.
They are proud, confident, and inclusive of all races, religions, & orientations (I mean Caitlyn Jenner is a transexual lesbian conservative Republican for crying out loud!).
Plus they are living the American dream, truly entrepreneurial, put family first, & take a lot of crap without flinching. They are far from being famous for doing nothing.
People care about them because they are truly interesting and at least in one way or another, reflect experiences that a lot of people go through even if they can't offer a solution to it.
Unlike a lot of people pretending that they think like this, the Kardashians truly do have a you be you attitude on life and if them being a bit self centered because people are fascinated by them, then that's a small price to pay.
That said, would I like to know them? Nope. But I don't want to get to know most people.
Do I watch their show? Not much. However, when I do, it is the best show of it's type which is defintiely faint praise.

No, I have never understood why people are so interested in this family.

If I was a psychologist, I would surely have plenty of answers to why humans care so much about other people, whether they are famous or not.
I'm not a psychologist, so the following speculations are just that: Speculations.
People focus on other people's problems to distract from their own. People are secretly jealous of people whom they focus on. People want to be like the people they watch. People admire what they do, and want to be like them. ...

I acknowledge the fact that they have found a niche, a market that quite obviously has a following,--quite devoted at that,-- and they make a living.
While they never set out with the intention of trying to better the world or be good role models (no one should have that responsibility unless they choose to)...but I cannot help but feel that they're not only abusing their so-called fame, and that Americans (and whomever else watches this tripe) are helping to perpetuate what I can only view as bizarre, unethical, ridiculous behaviour that young girls all over are bending over backwards trying to emulate.
It's their prerogative. If there wasn't a market for this tripe, it wouldn't take off the way it does.
I'm learning to not feel irritated when I see them all over the TV and magazines,...it saddens me to see this is what's considered appealing to the masses.

They almost don't exist in my world. I just quit watching or reading stories about them. Their moment in the sun will pass. Life goes on.

I don't care about them. In fact I don't care about them so hard that I barely know a thing about them.
I know they're famous, apparently for no particular reason. One of more of them is some sort of model, I gather.
And one of them got robbed in France, which was all over the news. IIRC, she's married to some kind of rap guy.
Honestly the biggest effect the Kardashians have had on me is that every time I hear the name, I think of the Cardassians off Star Trek.

Graham ^^ Yep, exactly!!
That was the gist of my point. Many of us here don't give a hoo-hah about these people, they have nothing to do with our lives, so,....meh.
Then I read posts here about gay people getting married and posters giving a hoo-hah about it when it has nothing to do with their lives.
Ass hats.

I don't like them because last year my Houston Rockets suffered Kardashian curse. Good of James Harden to get rid of that Kardashian girl as this year my Rockets are wining lots of matches and Harden will win MVP.

I'm still trying to figure out the obsession people have with Ada. I haven't even got around to the Kardashians, yet!

There's no way for them to abuse their fame. They aren't obligated to benefit others with it. They are no different than Jack Nicholson, Rhianna, or Richard Dawkins. They are living their life and are one of the fortunate few who get paid to do it.

Dont you get annoyed at watching him fall to the ground every time he gets anywhere near another player?

I think harden has more chances of winning MVP than anyone else. 1) He is bookie's fav to win MVP 2) Steph Curry said he would win. 3) Most of the MVP trackers (like from basketball-reference.com) have Harden leading at the moment. I don't get annoyed at Harden. He is a great passer and has made the whole team better. Some of his passes are incredible.

Then I read posts here about gay people getting married and posters giving a hoo-hah about it when it has nothing to do with their lives. Ass hats. The funny thing about the gay marriage issue is that most people who oppose it do so because it's "non christian". But... they're fine with divorce. And Jesus, whilst he never said a word about gays, specifically forbade straight people from divorcing for any reason. And how many other "sins" are there that nobody wants to make illegal? It's not illegal to make graven images, it's not illegal to fail to honour the sabbath, it's not illegal to commit adultery, it's not illegal to lie, greed is not illegal, or avarice, or envy... on and on. There is no impetus whatsoever to make most of these "sins" illegal. But the gay marriage one? You betcha! Face it : religion isn't the reason people are against gay marriage. Religion is the excuse for being against gay marriage. Hatred is the reason. Me, I have one criteria for marriage. Do all parties consent? Yes? Then have at it.

I've never seen someone try and draw as many fouls by just falling over. He still doesn't really defend at all either. Not as comically bad as before, but nowhere near a good defender. Sure, many good highlight plays, but watching a whole game with him flopping everywhere, no thanks. I dont even like Westbrook that much, but if he even gets close to averaging a triple double, he should win it. He does more with less.

I have only the vaguest idea who they are. So "how invested" = not at all.
