Yeah what he tweeted was ugly and stupid. Yeah Mike Cernovich and his ilk are pieces of shit. But it's Disney's call and they made it. I'm not surprised. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the fact that Mike Cernovich and his cronies were among the people who pushed for Gunn to get fired, I probably wouldn’t have had that big a problem with it. It just disgusts me to think that an admitted rapist and rape apologist is allowed to have so much influence. Probably has some sympathizers among Hollywood's top brass.

Meh. I think the Guardians story ended perfectly in Avengers. They went out trying to save the world. If they really want to make a 3rd Guardians make a Rocket movie and have Phil lord and Chris Miller direct it.

I honestly think no company should fire any employee over their past deeds (before they were part of said company) unless those deeds were criminal activity. If they performed said acts during their employment with a company then that's different, but from almost a decade ago? People do change you know. As far as I'm concerned, James Gunn didn't do anything wrong while in the employment of Disney that deserved him getting fired.
That said, those tweets were nasty. I wouldn't want to think what goes on in his head for him to write stuff like that. Still, getting your career ruined over something like that seems too steep a price.

Just give it to Taika Waititi. He's already proven himself with Ragnarok and we know his humor is at least in a similar vein to GOTG. I'd even say his humor is better (because those nipple and turd jokes were pretty bad).

Yes because there are new baselines in 2018. Roseanne was fired for tweets. Should either be jailed? No. Should either be considered for other employment? Sure. Hell, it'd probably be fine if both remained co-writers for their properties.

Not many people can emulate the style of James Gunn’s GotG movie, but Taika Waititi comes fairly close. That might get in the way of him making another Thor movie right away, though. |

Anybody's guess is as good as the last and next one. Gunn completed his draft for GOTG Vol. 3 and was assigned to develop an outline of sorts for phase four's cosmic titles a year ago last I checked. Looks like MCU Dictator Kevin Feige is going to have to cancel GotG3 and the Cosmic MCU. That's what he gets for hiring a pedophile. Why? DC haven't cancelled anything and they have a known groper playing Batman, had Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor, let Brett Rayner produce a film and their Superman thinks #metoo will make people call him a rapist. |
