What a weirdo creep. I heard a few of those quotes earlier today and thought they must've been taken out of context or something... But, nope. What a sick freak. And he had the nerve to judge Star Wars fans? Screw him! But I will also say that it's beyond ironic that conservative Trumpers were behind this when their beloved orange faced hero is the king of being an offensive asshole.That's the funny thing about this, they're claiming that their the morale ones. But the man they supported in the white house literally bragged about sexually assaulting women and called neo Nazis and White Supremacists "fine people" It not ironic at all. It’s called dishing it back to all those pearl clutching liberals who take offense at the drop of a hat when it comes to Trump. Lefties set the precedent and now the torpedoes have circled back and taken out one of their own. Funny how that keeps happening. I remember a time when there was concern about what might happen if the right wing moral majority rose to power. Proper sexual conduct would be dictated by the government, offensive language and improper behavior would become a punishable offense. Kangaroo courts would pop up all over the country passing judgement on those who violated their moral requirements. Mobs of righteous disciples would tar and feature anyone who stepped out of line. The USA would descend into some sort of demented puritanical gulag. ... and look who brought forth this bright shinny future we now live in. |

Anyway, I don’t feel like getting into a long running argument over this. Bottom line is that putting him alongside someone like Kevin Spacey is going too far. By the way, Jeffrey Dean Morgan didn’t defend Ben Affleck, he merely accepted his apology. |

To be clear, I'm not defending Gunn's past sense of humor. Some of what he said was awful, and had I known about those things I would have thought he was a jerk too. But I believe him when he says that he's sorry, and that he's a different person now, and that he wasn't "living' those statements. And I think firing him from the franchise that he made so popular is over kill.
Marvel/Disney was perfectly fine hiring him in the first place and letting him make them 2 of their most popular and money making movies. They should have helped him make his apology and stood by him. Both the far right and the far left have gotten out of control. We need to bring things back to the center a.s.a.p. Reason has to prevail, not extreme reaction.

I honestly think no company should fire any employee over their past deeds (before they were part of said company) unless those deeds were criminal activity. If they performed said acts during their employment with a company then that's different, but from almost a decade ago? People do change you know. As far as I'm concerned, James Gunn didn't do anything wrong while in the employment of Disney that deserved him getting fired. That said, those tweets were nasty. I wouldn't want to think what goes on in his head for him to write stuff like that. Still, getting your career ruined over something like that seems too steep a price. ^^^THIS^^^
He made awful, awful jokes about things he didn't actually do. There is a difference. A joke is NOT a statement of intent or a call to action.
