and the Politics Board.
I post mainly here butt also on Politics.
THERE the demarcation between 'Libtards' and 'Contards' is so deep, divided and enduring to the point where they don't even read each others' arguments anymore and the whole place is just a partisan pisshole. Pro Trump for the idiots (IMHO) and anti Trump for the rest. There is very little actual political discussion.
By contrast, lately I have noticed myself having rigorous arguments with other posters on some topics, and yet finding myself in accord with their views on others. I have to say I find this refreshing. Of course we have our fair share of fundamentalists on all topics, batshit crazies and trolling butt I have enjoyed the Boards lately for the discussions that have been more candid and less combatorial.
Just saying...

Politics board sucks because it is so partisan. By contrast religion board is not so highly divided on the basis of theism and atheism. Probably because theism and atheism are of different varieties whereas the politics board is divided only on 2 parties. Skyhawk was one of the posters who posted on both boards for years. As soon as Oldsamvimes started posting on politics he became a third class poster always moaning about something.

The politics board is currently the better place for debate and discussion.
In addition to the religion board being slow and repetitive, it doesn’t have as many participants.

Most of the 'debate and discussion' on the Politics Board is the endlessly repetitive 'Libs suck' NO 'Cons suck' Trump is a Fascist... NO Trump is a genius.

I have recently argued rigorously with such posters as Cool, Terepin, Toasted and a few others on some subjects yet found myself in accord on a few issues or points of logic or 'morality'. You yourself and I sometimes disagree, yet are often in accord. I try not to hold grudges though there are a few posters who exhibit what is beyond 'acceptable behaviour' in my eyes.

You are right, it has gotten so divided over there that the actual issues never get discussed, they are too busy defending their "side". There are a few thoughtful posters over there, but most of it is the back-and-forth mudslinging you describe. It is sad, because there are legitimate questions that need sorting out, but in that atmosphere...

There's a nice middle ground plus there's a lot of people (Considered liberals by Trumpers, but pretty varied otherwise) that hold bakc the tide. The difference in varying opinions is far more diverse than here where people are looking for things to argue about and manage to manifest fake outrage over the silliest of things.

You probably disagree with me much less nowadays than you did 3-4 years ago; I was a very different poster back then. I mean I’m exactly the same in terms of how I debate. But many of my views were different.

So I apologise for doubting your intent (and change) when it happened initially a year ago or so.

I might have posted a couple of posts on that board but I was already labelled both a libtard and a conservative in hiding by some of them. I guess holding any sort of neutral opinion automatically makes one against their side.

On the politics board, I'm a liberal. It's interesting to see the how much prejudices informs our opinions.

I actually played into that a bit though, intentionally being coy for the sake of entertainment. But it was mostly for people like Erjen and a few others who I didn’t get along with either before OR after. I’m pretty sure I’d already gone full atheist by the time Cody came along though.

Being the arrogant, argumentative, antagonistic, aristocratic, altruistic, arsehole, agnostic atheist that I am....I take about an atom of accountability for your awesome acceptance and accommodation of agnostic atheist arguments.

Not too long ago, there were a few European posters who sometimes posted about subjects also of interest for Europeans. But maybe they too got frustrated with the constant lib/con partisanry.

People not supporting Trump are liberals on Politics board. That's my point. It's the same here. Belief in God denotes a particular type of god believer which leads to a particular type of pointless conversation. NO amount of correction on the presumption changes the conversation at all. It's ridiculous and inevitably boring. The topics in politics board are often based on news of the day which provides a variety of discussions and can also pull out nuance in ideology regardless of prejudice. I'm not saying it's a great board. No board on here is, but it is a better board than the Religion one.

politics, n. A strife of interests masquerading as a contest of principles. The conduct of public affairs for private advantage.
religion, n. A daughter of Hope and Fear, explaining to Ignorance the nature of the Unknowable.

The rest of us manage to talk about all kinds of things that can be vaguely political philosophical current and contentious. I am not surprised that you can only see things from your own viewpoint, and it becomes boring, though you have improved your focus IMHO recently.
