I call that Nibelungentreue.
Don't believe in yourself, believe in me who believes in you, indeed. As baffling and awkward as Trump licking Putin's bяйца so tenderly.
Or Bautista knows his days with MCU are numbered anyway and he plans long term trying to become Gunn's muse like Deniro was Scorsese's.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 isn't going to happen. Accept it. Maybe not a "vol. 3" but a new Guardians of the Galaxy will be made. You don't need James Gunn to make a Guardians film. Every day, this inane spectacle spirals out of control, it becomes less and less of a possibility. Every article, every thought piece, every tweet and every message board post about pedophilia, the Holocaust, 9/11 and whatever else crept up into Gunn's tortured psyche makes it less and less likely. The whole sub-brand is irreparably damaged. More so than any director in the franchise, Gunn was synonymous with Guardians. When next we see Rocket on the big screen, every parent in the room is going to sit there and wonder... was he or wasn't he? Is he or isn't he? The executive decision is clear, sidestep the whole bloody mess and move on. Disney may be made of magic but, no PR team can fight a perception battle like that one indefinitely. And, they have so many new toys to play with that it's not even funny. Why bring up a new incarnation of something that is already so tainted. We've tweeted ourselves right the fuck out of any conclusion to this franchise - mark my words. Batista won't be the last of it. First, you'll hear that everything is fine and that Vol. 3 is on track for its initial release date. A few days later you may even hear rumors of a short list of directors. Yeah! A few days after that it will be delayed for no apparent reason. And, they'll keep postponing it for as long as it takes for you to forget and get excited about something new.

Makes you wonder if this issue would have made a far lesser splash had Disney not fired Gunn.

It would be stupid to kill it. If the others give Marvel trouble then kill them off in Avengers 4. Then announced a entirely new Guardians of the Galaxy film, give it a new subtitle if you have too. Hire a new writer and director and give them a brand new lineup. Hell make this guy the new leader. And James Gunn is a relic of the past. Boom! I should be running this shit.

Wow He's got some serious balls to act like that towards the house of mouse. They'll blacklist his ass if he isn't careful. Yep. If he does that, he'll not only won't be getting any more roles with Disney, he won't be getting any more movie roles at all. An actor refusing to follow the script is like a WWE superstar refusing to follow the script. It's a fast track to unemployment.

You're thinking like a fan. Disney is a family company. Killing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the smartest, easiest and most natural thing for Disney to do. It's far simpler than going through the convolutions you describe in the hopes that the franchise won't suffer from diminishing returns at this point. If this controversy doesn't die down within the next week or so. v3 will never see the light of day. This isn't about James Gunn anymore. It's about one of Disney's tentpole franchises being associated with pedophilia. That simply cannot stand. If v3 were a lock, Kevin would have told the fans as much by now. That's his job. The man with the plan hasn't said word one because it has not come down from up on high. You didn't think there was even a slight chance that you were tanking the entire franchise when joined in the "Gunn is a kiddie raper" chorus line? Fun tune, isn't it? Easy to remember lyrics. The old sublimation blues. No victims, no proof, no problem... Let's all sing along. Hee hee hee...

The thing you guys aren't getting is that the characters are fan favorites. This isn't like the X-men or DC movies where prominent characters can disappear or get recast just like that. People will crucify a Guardians 3 if Bautista isn't Drax or if he is killed off screen.
Also, he did say that he'd do his job, but he'd rather be taken off the movie if Gunn's script isn't used. He's just asking to be taken off the movie. Do that is really a public ploy.

X-men and Fox wasn't tarnished because of Singer because the only people that knows about the allegations was people like us. It's the same thing with Gunn and Disney. Joe Public doesn't know about it. Disney just pulled the plug on Gunn before it could become a big thing. And the irony is that them doing so made it a big thing. It would have blown over if they ignored it. But I think it's them jumping because of them buying Fox.

At this point, I’m starting to think that either Disney needs to rehire James Gunn, or cancel GotG 3 altogether.

At this point, I’m starting to think that either Disney needs to rehire James Gunn, or cancel GotG 3 altogether. They can't rehire him, that's a nonstarter. I say there is an 80% chance they'll cancel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (or "postpone" it indefinitely).

No, Bautista is saying he won't do his job and honor his contract. Because when an actor signs a contract for a multi-picture deal, he can't just say I won't do this movie if I don't like the script. He signed for a multi-picture deal so he's required by contract to do it whether he likes the script or not. If he doesn't do it, then he's breaking his contract and they can sue him for it.
