At this point, I’m starting to think that either Disney needs to rehire James Gunn, or cancel GotG 3 altogether. Disney should cancel GotG3 and retcon the first 2 GotG movies out of MCU. There's already precedence for retconning out movies from a franchise, with the Terminator movies.

He's saying now that he won't be involved if James Gunn's script isn't used. So basically, Bautista is saying he refuses to honor his contract. Because when an actor signs a contract for a multi-picture deal, he can't just say I won't do this movie if I don't like the script. He signed for a multi-picture deal so he's required by contract to do it whether he likes the script or not. If he doesn't do it, then he's breaking his contract and they can sue him for it.

They were crucial in setting up Thanos and Infinity War.

He's saying now that he won't be involved if James Gunn's script isn't used. I respect his commitment and support for a friend, but on the other hand outside of Drax Bautista doesn't have that much else going for him as an actor, let's face it Marvel really helped him make it in this industry refusing to continue to work for them would do harm than good for his acting career. If I were him I'd just keep quiet and express his emotions privately instead of publicly.

Like the Rock used to say to jabronies in the WWE, "Know your role and shut your mouth!".

You put me high on the list of "stupid MCU fans who can't think for themselves"...

Look, we're blowing this thing out of proportion. Bautista specifically says he will fulfill his contract if necessary but will ask Disney to kill-off his character or replace him if Gunn's script isn't used. And to be honest, unless it's a really bad script I don't see why it can't be used or at least parts of it.

I don't see why these guys can't just move on. Whedon left on less than good terms after two Avengers movies and the third one turned out fine with a new team.
I know the circumstances are obviously different, but it's not like GotG 2 was a masterpiece or anything. It was actually kind of mediocre... Who can say that the third one wouldn't benefit from a new direction...
INNIT OR IT INNIT?

I didn't hate either of the Guardians films, but a new director could do something different with them that would be a welcome change for the franchise. I get that people like Gunn and his take on the team, but it's time to move on. And like you said about Whedon, this change could be a good thing. Hell it worked well for Infinity War.

Refusing to be in the movie if they don't use the script he wants isn't fulfilling his contract. He signed a multi-movie contract. As a actor, his only job is to read the script that's given to him and do what the Director tells him to do. Anything else is a breach of his contract. And the reason Disney wouldn't want to use Gunn's script is because if they use it, then they have to credit Gunn for the script. Disney wants to distance themselves from that scumbag pedophile Gunn so they won't want to use his script and have to credit him in the movie, especially since MCU fans stay through the credits to watch the post-credits scene.

Yep, I’d be thrilled if someone like Taika took over, though I’d be worried him or other potential directors might refuse to do it as a way to support Gunn dragging this out further. I hate the circumstances surrounding this, but I wish we can get some definitive news already.
