Since no one had started one and the games start tonight, I figured I would go ahead and start it. Discuss all the CFB games this week here. Whatβs everyone looking forward to this week? A lot of good games. Tonight, Northwestern/Purdue should be good, and UCF opens up against Uconn, I will check both of those games out. washington beating auburn would be cool.

Northwestern is far from the bottom of the Big 10 my friend, they won 10 games last year, and they return a strong team on both sides of the ball, they should finish second in the Big 10 West IMO, Fitzgerald has done a tremendous job in turning the Wildcats into a solid program. Purdue won a bowl last year as well, Brohm is a good coach and they will be competitive once again. I have a feeling UCF will destroy Uconn, Huskies look very weak this year. UCF will have a hard time running the table again IMO, with a new coach plus a challenging 3 week stretch in a couple of weeks where they play UNC, FAU and Pitt back to back to back, plus they play at Memphis and USF. A 16 team playoff would ruin CFB, I strongly disagree with you about it. Not only would it eliminate the bowls, something which makes CFB very unique and which I greatly enjoy, but it would make the regular season almost as meaningless as college basketball, a slew of 2 loss teams and even a few 3 loss teams would get in the playoff if it was expanded to 16 teams. The best thing about CFB is how every game matters and one loss can fuck up your season badly, a 16 team playoff would get rid of all that excitement and result in mediocre teams in the playoff and whoever got hot at the right time would win. No kiddin'. How did they escape my mind? Were they in the Kia Plum Bowl in Hawaii against Nevada State? Here's the beauty of my system. You can still keep the Bowl Games as we come down to the 'Elite 8', 'Final 4', etc. Rose, Orange, Sugar, Peach, Cotton yadda yadda yadda. Everything today is about money. Corps would have to bid more $$$ of course to get their names on the ''Elite 8 so to speak'. Here's why I loooooveeee March Madness. What did we see this year? Finally - when hardly anybody thought it could be done - a #16 seed knock off a #1. How many years have we seen a #15 seed knock off a #2? Do these upsets mark the regular season college basketball slate 'meaningless'?. I don't know - if you're 'Elite' - why not prove your 'eliteness' and knock off who you should knock off and take care of business. Nothing like a Cinderella Story. I also like to see some of these Dud 12-0 teams every year who b*tch and moan get their fair share in a playoff system. Would they get annihilated? My guess is yes - but again - who expected #16 UMBC to knock off #1 Virginia in the NCAA March Madness Tourney this year. Think of the slate of games we can see - just off the top of my head: #1 Alabama vs. #16 Michigan State #2 Ohio State vs. #15 Oklahoma State #3 Clemson vs. #14 Washington #4 Florida State vs. #13 Georgia #5 LSU vs. #12 Miami #6 Oklahoma vs #11 Auburn #7 Michigan vs. #10 Stanford #8 Penn State vs. #9 University of Central Idaho - i.e. that small school that ran the slate that gets in. That to me is epic! From Turkey Day to Christmas - the most festive time of the year - imagine going Christmas shopping and stopping for lunch/beer at sports bars watching this? I'd have to take off for the entire month! How the hell would Georgia be #13? Dawgs would be #1 after beating bama in the SEC Championship game. By the way, in your scenario conference championships would need to be eliminated or have no effect on the playoffs since not every conference has one and independents would have an unfair advantage. Like cheating ass bama did last season. Didn't play in SEC Championship yet not only went to playoffs, also were handed the easiest and most beneficial path to NC game. Hate them bitches but I no longer think Saban is Satan. Obviously far too many choices in that open sewer called the big 10 for Saban to even be a viable option. How anyone with a conscience can be a fan of the b1g is beyond me. Can't wait for Saturday. Let's play some football my fellow college football aficionados.

interesting. what do you think in turn of teams like Oklahoma State (just picked a team off the top of my head) perhaps running through a cupcake first 3 games of the year vs. South Dakota University, Alcorn Technical Institute, and Howard County Community College and rolling up scores of 72-3? what if they finish say 11-1. should they get recognition and be considered for the 'Final 4'? Yes. Interesting. Let's take your Hawkeyes. Lets say they have a rather impressive year and finish 11-1 with some very impressive wins in the Big 10; however unfortunately are the outside looking in after some 'consideration' for the Final 4. Don't you think in a situation such as this - a bigger 'playoff' would benefit your Hawkeyes?

Since when did the Big 10 start playing conference games the first week of the season? I think Ohio State plays Rutgers next week too, but my Hawks play 3 games before they start their conference schedule. I don't get it. I saw that the Big Ten schedule is set until at least 2022 (and maybe up to 2025), but Penn State has a game some time soon versus Indiana (I believe) week one. I think there's going to be one of them all the time now. Maybe it's because other conferences are doing it, so you can get a non-conference game with a Big Five conference later than September any more.

Aztecs are doing a great job of bottling up Love - - didn't see what happened on the last drive, but he was averaging less than a yard a carry before that.

Love has been held to 6 yards on 11 carries so far, amazing. Iβm not surprised the Aztecs are playing well, they are always strong and Rocky Long is a great coach, but Love has been completely shut down, QB Costello has done everything for Stanford through the air.
Wisconsin is destroying WKU, Taylor has over 100 yards rushing, the Badgers have an excellent team, I think Hornibrook needs to be more consistent but Wisconsin is definitely a playoff contender.

love was held to 29 yards on like 18 carries wow - if anybody still gets Sports Illustrated delivered via snail mail (i may be the last person in America) - in the latest magazine - he has a really nice piece he wrote himself in the back on why he returned to school and gave up the option of going pro.
think i i went to Stanford though too - i'd want to finish up that education - as opposed to if i was on the Chain Gang in Miami

spartans squeek out a win against Utah State - thought that was offensive holding by the WR blocking on the winning TD - meh - #11 gets a hometown call - you can tell when a player is guilty as soon as he throws his hands up in the air shaking his head and looks immediately at the ref as if to say 'No-I wasn't holding at all!'

Oklahoma quickly up 14-0 on FAU after a blocked punt TD!!
Ohio Stβs offense looks unstoppable so far.
Ole Miss-Texas Tech is a shootout as expected.

Yeah, they might as well just start running the clock nonstop on the Ohio State game before it gets really ugly. The old "mercy rule," as they used to call (and apply it!) back when I was in high school in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

My alma mater is sticking around with NC State in the first half. Madison's QB has zero incompletions through 25 minutes of play.

To me, there's no university's lack of success that is more perplexing than Illinois's. There's talent in the state - - why can't they seem to get it (or coach it)?
