It was better than I could have ever expected an adaptation of that comic to be. Pretty spot on casting too, and the opening credit sequence is one of the greatest.

It's a great movie, IMO a genre master piece that transcends the genre (8/10). Mature and full of substance and themes. For me it ranks alongside TDK, Logan, WW etc. Not seen the (allegedly even better) Director's Cut yet. I'm going to go off a limb and say you never read the graphic novel. Because as an adaption, the film fails on every level. Recreating a panel-to-panel on screen isn't an adaption. And just because it's R-rating and has blood and sex in it, it's not mature. It's far from it. The Dark Knight is far more mature than Watchmen will ever be.

There were several attempts before that failed in production hell stage already. And LO and BEHOLD: Snyder did it! And he did it astoundingly well considering the complex sorce material.
Btw you need not "go off a limb", I told several times that I did not read the GN. But, hold the press!, in the meantime I did do some nerd-homework and checked out the differences: And for the most part I greatly prefer how the film implemented it. Especially replacing the alien-squid falling onto the city (that would have RUINED the gravitas of the film), or the cumbersome pirate side-story that feels quite redundant and only reflects the villain's dilemma, or that the WM having no powers except Manhatten. Only thing I though was better was that the GN-villain was a bit more fleshed out.
Lol at not "mature". This film has adult themes like the guilt of a man for destroying his family and abandoning his human values, people re-finding themselves again in their passion and vocation, the regulation and prohibition of vigilantism, the question of morals such as scrificing many for the benefit of the whole. And it has Rorschach! QED

Just because Snyder was able to make a film called "Watchmen" doesn't mean it's really filmable. He made a story called "Watchmen" that used the names of characters from the story, but it's not the "Watchmen" story. You like the film for the wrong reason. As a film alone, sure it has nice visual and compentently made and decent performance, but none of it really means anything. It's a sexed up, hyperstylized cartoon with zero context. All those themes are hardly touched upon and are pretty much undermined by unneccary violence and blood and sex. Again, just because it has an R-rating and has boobs in it, doesn't mean it's mature. One of the worse scenes in it is the rape of Silk Spectre which Snyder literally made "sexy" to appeal to horny teenage boys. Much like BvS, Snyder made this film with the mindset of a priapic teenager. The only real definite message you get out of this film in order to get a hard-on for a woman is beating up criminals.

You do know what the Rorschach test is, right?
Maybe what you see in this film is more revealing about you than about the film.

It certainly reveals a lot about you that you think an R-rating with unnecessary blood and gore and sex and nudity automatically equals "mature".

I mentioned it because that's all the film is and there's zero context to any of it. I have seen PG films that are more mature than Watchmen and had far more stronger themes.

It's a good movie if you're stupid. For a primitive neanderthal like you yes. For intelligent people not.

Zack Snyder ruined Watchmen, Superman, Batman and the Justice League.

All Watchmen the comic did was take themes from various movies (like Fail Safe, Manchurian Candidate, Colossus the Forbin Project, Dirty Harry, Outer Limits etc)and apply them to the superhero genre which was intended as a juvenile literature. If you have seen a lot of movies it is not particularly groundbreaking thematically or anything else.
As a self-examination of superheroes, the comic series Astro City is much better without the pretentiousness.

Obviously you are one of those horny teenage boys and you even admitted all you got out of the movie was rape scenes turn you on and the idea of beating up some other guys is even more of a turn on for you. Get some help kid. Your sick twisted ideas of sexuality are NOT normal despite what your parents seem to have taught you. I shudder to think how they "taught" you.
